Hi there, i read from the speeding up OSXarticle that if kernel_task is running and high cpu usage, its the AppleTMPACPI.kext thats causing the problem.

But when i went to the folder specified by the article (/system/library/extensions/) i could not find AppleTMPACPI.kext

anyone know whats going on?

Hey, my friend is trying to install this on his laptop and has the same problem

AppleTMPACPI.kext isn't there and we deleted AppleHWSensor.kext.

We've tried 10.4.5, 4.6, 4.7 also tried 'At the Darwin Boot Screen type this: platform=X86PC' and turned off MiniPCI and all power saving. speed step functions and usb legacy

Sorry to bump the thread.

is spotlight doing it indexing? if it is, u will have high cpu load due to mdworker thread that is doing all the indexing... u might wanna run activity monitor and check which process that is taking all the cpu load.. but my fair suspicion lies with mdworker...
