Well I have installed OSx86 and worked past the b0 error, then darwin just loops in a fast reboot, I have read to take a picture but its way to fast the text scrolling by lasts for about 15 sec and then reboots. OSx86 version is 10.4.6

My experience with mac and linux is limited at best but would love to get this to work, could some one be so kind to give me some help if you have any ideas.

ok well I tried to boot the cd and go into the terminal and typed:

cp /mach_kernel/volumes/hackintosh

and this is what i get

usage: cp [ -R [ - H | -L | -P]] [-f | -i | -n] [-PV] src target

cp [ -R [ - H | -L | -P]] [-f | -i | -n] [-PV] src1...srcN directory

not knowing what this meant i tried to reboot and still the scrolling text and then reboot problem.

what can i do at this screen?

if i use the -v still just runs and reboots.

Thanks

Kev

It sucks being a newbie :(

does anybody have any ideas?

Is this the Core Duo with onboard Intel shared video model? I've recently seen one of these and thought it's a LOT like a MacBook configuration.

You'll need to post what hacked version of OS X you're trying to install to get any help on this. And I'm not the one with any info, since mine's an Apple.

Good luck.

thanks heres my specs

same as sig

Dell Inspiron XPS

Pen 4 3.4 EE

1 Gig ram

128 9700 ati

40 gig HD OSx86 only

Chip set = intel 865G/PE/P/848P (Springdale-G/PE/P)

I dont want to dual boot, i change my drive when i want to try osx86.

my distro is 10.4.4 with 10.4.6 patch, thats what it says when im loading mac and i check system.

but my iso says 10.4.6.install.dvd.iso

It loads fine and when i see the boot options i type in -v and watch the scrolling window for 13 seconds then my screen goes black for another 10 seconds and my comp reboots. the screen goes so fast that when i try to pause the screen i can never catch the end to see what it says.

thank you

My bad terminal uses caps so for anyone else when you use

cp /mach_kernel /volumes/Mac OS X/

if you dont use capitals where you named the partition then you will see this

usage: cp [ -R [ - H | -L | -P]] [-f | -i | -n] [-PV] src target

cp [ -R [ - H | -L | -P]] [-f | -i | -n] [-PV] src1...srcN directory

So much fun =)

  • 1 year later...

I don't know mwhat XPS I have but I would assume its a gen1 because I got it like 3 years ago when the XPS line first came out. I am trying to install the mac OS on it also and I keep getting the reboot as well after pressing enter, or -v. I am stuck at this point...I can't get any further than this step. I could use a little guidence. Could it be a video issue? incompatible chipset? incorrect kernel on the discs we are using? I am trying 10.4.8 and my startup volume says "hd(2,1) Mac OS X Install Disc x86.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I just wanted to add that my XPS is a desktop and not a laptop
