Sevrilis
Hello everyone, I tried installing Snow Leopard Hazard release 10.6.2, I got it installed and working except that I could not find any atheros AR5007 or intel gma950 drivers for snow leopard. So I switched to Leopard iDeneb release 1.6 lite osx 10.5.8. It appears to have all the drivers, but my laptop will now randomly shut off, and when I feel where the air is blowing out, it is hot, and the plastic around that area is hot to the touch, which im guessing is why it shut off. I have had this issue randomly with every version of osx I install since 10.4 (including snow leopard). How can I fix this? I can't have the computer randomly turning off on me. Thanks edit: I should mention that my laptop is a Toshiba A200-AH1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/211548-help-laptop-randomly-shuts-off-becomes-hot/ Share on other sites

Simon19
Yo, I'd would STOP using OS X as you dont have the drivers. looks like your cooling system isnt functioning right. Im thinking the lack of drivers is meaning the thermal sensors cant give feedback to regulate fan speeds ect... the reason It shuts off is the processor's thermal trip which is a safety mechansum. Looks like you tempriture serson aint being reginised. I'd stick with somthing that wont boil your PC's guts for now like ol' windoze or linux. sorry mate but thats one hell of a serious problem you go there Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/211548-help-laptop-randomly-shuts-off-becomes-hot/#findComment-1418802 Share on other sites
Sevrilis
Yeah I figured thats what the problem was, I just figured there would also be a way to fix it. That someone else has to have had the same problem or that there might be some modifed kext file that would make the fan or whatever work properly Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/211548-help-laptop-randomly-shuts-off-becomes-hot/#findComment-1420118 Share on other sites
Tech-boy
Don't use that OSX build anymore. As it doesn't appear to have the drivers to manage fan control properly, thus you laptop is shutting off when the cpu reaches your thermal limit. Sevrilis
Yeah I am not using that build, but this same thing happens in all the versions i try I have tried: 10.4.8 10.5.2 10.5.8 10.6.0 10.6.2 Same thing in all of them, it over heats and shuts off. I cant be the only one who has this problem such that there is no solution?
