Orutrance
Hey! I recently bought a cheap chinese Bluetooth dongle. Works perfectly with windows 7. But when I plug it in Snow Leo 10.6.2 it recognizes the device and pops for setting a new network interface. I can see the bluetooth icon in the menu bar it also searches my phone s5230. But when I want to send a file via bluetooth it can't connect to my phone. What might be the problem, do i need extra kext to work this thing out :s I don't want to use wireless mouse or keaboard with the dongle, just need it for filesharing and transfers. For the sake of info i am dual booting windows 7 and Snow Leo (with all updates) Retail. Hi, If Snow is like Leopard, did u try to launch "Bluetooth file exchange" that you can find in utilities to activate the bluetooth dongle? Orutrance
Yes there is that BlueTooth file exchange and tried that, after launching I can browse my files, I selected a file and it showed me device. When I click send ... I can see only connecting to device. But actually it never does it. :/ From my cell phone the settings are set to always discoverable, non secure and there is third option Remote sim. I tried it in all ways but problem still remains the same. There are bunch of preferences in the menu bar for bluetooth, I wonder if It has any thing to do with that. mschilling
I tried one of those noname BT dongles too, which was recognized, but didn't work in OSX, only in W7. So I got a D-Link DBT-122 and it works great so far, although I haven't tried file transfers with it yet. Here's what it shows in SL in sys profiler: Apple Bluetooth Software Version: 2.2.4f3 Hardware Settings: Manufacturer: Broadcom Firmware Version: 14 (16445) Bluetooth Power: On Discoverable: Yes HCI Version: 3 ($3) HCI Revision: 16445 ($403d) LMP Version: 3 ($3) LMP Subversion: 17166 ($430e) Device Type (Major): Computer Device Type (Complete): Macintosh Desktop Composite Class Of Device: 3670276 ($380104) Device Class (Major): 1 ($1) Device Class (Minor): 1 ($1) Service Class: 448 ($1c0) Requires Authentication: No Services: Bluetooth File Transfer: Folder other devices can browse: ~/Public Requires Authentication: Yes State: Enabled Bluetooth File Exchange: Folder for accepted items: ~/Downloads Requires Authentication: No When other items are accepted: Ask When PIM items are accepted: Ask When receiving items: Prompt for each file State: Enabled Devices (Paired, Favorites, etc): NS-BTHDP: Name: NS-BTHDP Type: Headset Services: Headset, Hands-Free unit Paired: Yes Favorite: Yes Connected: No Manufacturer: Cambridge Silicon Radio ($3, $bf1) TargusBluetoothPresenterforMac(AMP11): Name: TargusBluetoothPresenterforMac(AMP11) Type: Mouse Firmware Version: 594 Services: Targus Bluetooth Presenter for Mac (AMP11) Paired: Yes Favorite: No Connected: No Manufacturer: Broadcom ($3, $229) Incoming Serial Ports: Serial Port 1: Name: Bluetooth-PDA-Sync RFCOMM Channel: 3 Requires Authentication: No Outgoing Serial Ports: Serial Port 1: Address: Name: Bluetooth-Modem RFCOMM Channel: 0 Requires Authentication: No What does yours show in profiler?
