Hi,

after installing istat i reconized that my SL installation runs about 20 degree C higher CPU temp than leopard.

I have Speedstep enabled

Checked that speedstep is in deed workin over CPU-I app (needs installed cpui.kext)

Somehow I dont get it how SL makes cpu temps so much higher even with speedstep working?

At full throttle my cpu gets up to 80 degrees

Any ideas, what do Imiss

Regards

I wonder if maybe just the shown CPU temp values are false ?!?!?

maybe the apps get wrong senor values

I switched my E6400 Intel Core2Duo 2,23GHz back to its default speed, i.e. 2,3GHz.

On the CPU there is a hugh Skythe Ninja cooler attached, that is a 12cmx12cm metal block with a 12cm fan. Really on the best fans around. The fan has a constant speed of about 1000RPM.

Activity monitor shows a constant CPU usage of up to max 5% and still the "measured" CPU is

CPU A 56 ºC

CPU B 51 ºC

Strange

how and why should the CPU temp be as high as that

CPU usage low

Voltage settings correct (that is what CPU-I shows

Same CPU speed, voltage, etc. gives 10 degrees lower values in 10.5, Windows and Linux

For me it is a mistery

The only conclusion that makes sense is that somehow the real CPU temp and the displayed CPU temps differ

Nop, if you check with the Bios, You'll see that they are not false!

It is really strange.... only way to find out if it's a malfunction, is by getting a real Mac pro case, and test it!!!!

Idk what your setups are but for me I had to install the voodoopowermini.kext. From my research there are 3 different kexts that will fix this: A)IntelSpeedStep.kext B)voodoopower.kext C)voodoopowermini.kext...Check out those three and see if they work for you.

My motherboard is a Ga-EP45-UD3P

Please,

can anyone conform this "software" bug.

1. install iStat pro from Apples Widget page

2. run dashboard and take a look at the CPU values you get

3. iStat will ask you to update to the current version

4. run dashboard again, and iStat shows CPU temp values about 10 degrees higher than in 1
