i just bought a new psu for my g5 build,

i had to take it off its casing to fit it in the g5 and i guess i didnt ground it properly i think...

does anyone know what could be wrong, i cannot see any burn mark or nothing, its never smoked or flick a breaker...

i pluged it and when i tested my g5 fans, my wiring wasnt right and its shut off the power supply and never was able to turn back on.

i have power in all the circuit but on the main harness that power the moBo.

anyway i am pretty bummed out if someone could help...

well considering i'm having some trouble figuring out what you're saying, all i can say is that you might have blown out a voltage rail, a fuse, who knows.

you should never take apart a PSU unless you have to, it voids the warranty....

sorry if it seems like i think your an idiot... i don't, any ways have you tried to turn off the power supply switch, and dissconnect the power cord for like 30 seconds? i've had problems from shoriting the powersupply while doing some wiring on fans with bare wires and no connectors, and just like you, it wouldent start again, but once i unplugged it for a few seconds, it worked fine...

Get everything back in PSU and return it in the store. I worked a few years in computer repairs store, they wont mind it since they send it to company who build it. Just dont be too honest how you killed it. Try that ; )

cheers

cant do that... the mod was pretty intensive and i had to cut some part of the psu case to fit it in the g5...

the g5 is running out of room with watercool, rad, full atx...

no psu fits in there...

oh well i had to order another one...

bump:(

Well if you have money for new one, go ahead. If you're willing to test it and maybe fix it do get some kind of PSU tester so you dont burn other components. Cheers!
