Hello everyone on this forum! I have been lingering on this forum in a while & have chosen to build my first Hackintosh. I have a budget of about a $1000 and already have a case and Power supply. I dont play games but will be doing some minor photoshop and video editing, I want a fast mac tho, I dont want it to lag and be somewhat futureproof in the face that I usually keep my PC's for about 3 years before I upgrade. I would like to use a motherboard that has USB 3.0 & the new SATA, I really like the i7 920 but am willing to wait until the i930 if you guys feel its going to be worth the wait. I want to build something that I dont have to do an excessive amount of tinkering with and preferably will be silent as possible so its able to accept the apple updates easily. I have the magic mouse and the wireless keyboard so I do need a BT dongle that allows the sleep / wake feature. Please recommend a setup, id really appreciate it & a easy to follow guide would be great!

Thank you..

check out my holy hackintosh build. I suggest the p6x58d premium asus motherboard, as it's futureproof.. I mean I'm building pretty much what you're looking for albeit a little more pricey/speedier.

Yah i looked at that but it seems like a but more than I need and its over my budget, I want something with a lot of support available as im new to this. Im looking at the following config

GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD4P or GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5

OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK - Retail

D-Link DBT-120 USB 2.0 Wireless USB Bluetooth Adapter - Retail

Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 - Retail

1TB Hard drive

Apple Magic Mouse

Apple Wireless Mouse

I just want to emphasize that I want something that I can follow a guide and it will be simple to follow and be silent enough to take the apple software updates without doing anything if possible. I also need a wifi card so if someone can please recommend one to me, & for graphics card something good that be fast and compatible. I wont be playing many games but something that is an all around good video card.

Thank you everyone! All advice is appreciated

The GA-P55A-UD4P supports socket LGA 1156 but you have mentioned a LGA 1366 CPU. My recommendation would be to go for a Intel Core i7 860 Quad Core Processor Lynnfield LGA1156 2.8GHZ Hyperthreading 8MB processor instead which is around the same price but better value.

Have a think about 2 or 3 500GB drives rather than a single 1TB and stripe them (raid 0) for considerable speed boost.

Graphics card - Radeon HD 4870 or GeForce GTX 275. These are getting harder to find as the market leaders as far as value for money goes at the moment are the Radeon 5xxx series which are unfortunately not hackintosh friendly.

Hey there Hero223,

Did you ever get the GA-P55A-UD4P? I did (see my sig) and am working to make it perfect. Looking for others with the same board so we can all help.

Thanks,

:D
