hey guys,

i tried to build striped raid set out of 2x500gb hdds with disk utility. the drives are both brand new. i got the raid going online but after copying some data to it, it suddenly stops copying with finder error code -36. is one of my drives faulty?

i've got snow leopard 10.6.2 running on an gigabyte p55m-ud2.

both drives are connected to the intel chipset sata controller in ahci mode.

greets

So I have the same MB, 4GB of DDR3, i7-860 and Software RAID 0 setup on two 80GB SATA drives (to debug the setup.. then going to a RAID 10 with 4 500GB drives) on SATA 0 and 1 ports on the MB.

I am not seeing your problem; I have moved about 60GB of data to the pair with no indication of problems (yet).

My problem is that the RAID 0 won't boot and hangs with this on the screen:

boot0: GPT

boot0: testing

boot0: testing

boot0: done

I have used TonyMacX86 process to build the system and it is solid 10.6.2 at 64Bit on a single drive. With the RAID 0 in place, I have to use a CDROM to boot (not ideal)!

Is your RAID bootable? If yes, please share the outline of your boot process.

Anyone with experience booting OSX 10.6.2 RAID-0, please jump in.
