Hi Everyone!!! :hysterical:

I'm a windows guy and dont know a thing about Mac. I recently got married :) (So i'm flat out brook :) ). My wife is a web/graphics designer and needed a Mac for her work so a friend of mine helped me and built a Hackintosh for me (Thanks to him i saved money :hysterical: ). The hackintosh works amazingly well, except for one thing i.e. it needs the bootdisk for it to boot.

I request for your help to fix this issue. Here's the hardware configuration of my Hackintosh :-

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66 Ghz CPU
  • Asus P5P43TD PRO motherboard
  • Asus EN9800GT 512 MB DDR3 Video Card
  • ASUS WL-138g V2 IEEE 802.11b/g PCI Wireless Adapter
  • 4 x 2GB Kingston HyperX 240 pin SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
  • LG Black 24X DVD Burner
  • 1TB Segate Baracuda 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
  • Onboard Audio
  • Onboard Network Card
  • Hec X-Power PRO 600W Power Supply
  • Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD

Please help me to get this work. Also, please tell me step by step process on how to do it as i'm a dud when i comes to Mac :hysterical: .

Thanks in Advance!!!! :hysterical:

Hi there

I use the same graphic card as you (asus en9800gt 512 ddr3) and it works fine but the picture seems to be squashed, think of it as displaying 3:4 video in 16:9 ratio

I used Kakewalk for installing 10.6.2 vanilla

Any suggestions?

thanks

Can you verify that Quartz extreme is working correctly?

I tested that with

http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/#quartzextremecheck

and it said that the display is accelerated....

Problem solved:

I used a DVI to VGA adapter. But I have the vague feeling that Apple dropped VGA support in 10.6 (maybe somebody could confirm that or not?) or it's a Kakewalk thing....

However now I can choose screen resolution and have full QE/CI support...

Specs:

CPU:INtel Core2Quad Q9550

MB: GA-Ep45-UD3LR

GC: Asus en9800GT Di 512MB DDR3

4GB DDR2 ram

Samssung S223c/BEBE

Using dualboot on the same 500GB disk

Win7 / OSX 10.6.2
