kenetik
As you can tell I'm new to this board and to the OSx86 concept. I am building a new rig with the components below and would like to be able to dual boot windows 7 and snow leopard. Will it be possible? Thank you for your time! Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R CPU: Intel Core i7-920 Vid: GeForce GT 220 1GB HDD: OCZ SATA SSD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/207968-can-i-dual-boot-win7-and-snow-leopard/ Share on other sites
Hangten
Yes On a side note you are aware SL does not support TRIM for your SSD if your SSD is one that supports it. Windows 7 does. Using the same drive to install both OS's and Chameleon is not to difficult. I personally use 2 OCZ Vertex SSD one for each SL & Win7. And up to 5 HDD for storage and a cloned backup. Read as much as you can about how to. Download ALL THE KEXT for your board... and various tools needed to install those kext correctly. Tip: boot in safe mode and work on getting your hardware working from there. It will save you time from looking at a skewed or gray screen upon first boot. Set the boot flag to" com.apple.boot.plist -s -x " and don't forget there are 32 bit and 64 bit kext out there so you might need to use arch=i386 for 32bit mode or that hardware will not work. Use this to help you configure things on your plist Win7 to Mac access tool Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/207968-can-i-dual-boot-win7-and-snow-leopard/#findComment-1389235 Share on other sites

kenetik
the dual booting isn't related to the hw. I understand but I also wanted to make sure I could even run SL on it. This is the configuration I decided to go with and should receive sometime next week: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 HIS H585F1GDG Radeon HD 5850 (Cypress Pro) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 2x OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX30GXXX 2.5" 30GB HITACHI Deskstar HD31000 IDK/7K (0S00163) 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s ASUS Blu-ray Drive SATA Model BC-08B1ST As you can see I decided to go with 2 SSD's for the 2 different operating systems. Can you point me in the right direction to learn how to install SL for my board?
