Hi!

A am nooby in Leopard anatomy (yet) and asking for your help.

The problem is:

Network (LAN and WiFi) working perfectly on Leopard 10.5.8 and fresh install of Snow Leopard.

But after SL updating (by software update process) to 10.6.2 I'm loosing network completely. I can get back network by starting with "-f" or "-x" keys only. But in normal mode - I am loosing again.

What should I do to have network in normal mode each time?

Thank you in advance!

Hello, what are the hardware specs of your LAN and Wifi, I'm not a pro at all this but I have an experience of about 5 hackintoshes, have a look on www.kexts.com for some snow leopard drivers for your devices and use kext helper (google it) to install them. As i said I'm no pro so someone else may know better.

Liam

My specs:

Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller

Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 02)

As I told, there is my misunderstanding, why intel82566MM.kext working well with SL started with "-f" key only.

Thank you for advise, Liam! I'll post my progress!

Solution:

If my network working well with start key "-f", then I need to rebuild my caches, isn't?

So, this command made my Ethernet working after software update to 10.6.2:

1. Rebuild the Extensions.mkext for /Extra/Extensions in /Extra with the following command.

sudo kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /Extra/Extensions.mkext /Extra/Extensions

2. Rebuild the Extensions.mkext for the “/System/Library/Extensions” directory:

sudo kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions
