Intel officially released i3 and new i5's based on 32nm dies with integrated gpus. Very interesting.

All the new i5's are dual core hyper-threading, besides i5-750 which is 4 physical cores. Looks like intel's core 2 series are finally of the past. The cheapest budget i3 beats out both e8400 and q6600. You can bet that apple will be going after these new 32nm, for both macbook and the Imac line. Only a matter of time now.

What's really interesting are the prices:

Intel just made it much harder for someone getting ready to buy a mid-range build.

I wonder how these will go in apple's setup...

and the mobile ones...

I'm shopping for either a macbook pro 13 or dell studio xps 13.. I hope they upgrade fast..

I would assume they will drop ALL their Core 2 processors for the i-series. The higher clock speeds and better technology puts even the best Core 2 Duos and the legendary q6600 behind the i3's, which are the cheapest of the bunch.

I'm not sure how far they are going to go with the upgrade, but I think it could be possible that they only upgrade the 15" and 17" with the new cpus...

if no other brand puts the i5 or even i3 in 13 inches laptops, apple will have no reason to do so.

I'd like to see them in the 13" series tho...

Even if they keep the core 2 duo, a refresh of the macbook pro series would be nice... lowering the price would be nice, the 1600$ (canada) macbook pro 13 is simply too expensive.

now originally I had no problem with the i7 introducing the lga 1366 but then the core lower core's i's came out being the 3 and 5 and introduced yet another damn socket configuration. I have nothing against the processors but the damn fact that they change to socket once again in such a short period of times basically kills the dream if people wanted to buy a cheaper i series and then upgrade to the i7 or the maysoontobe el33t i9. On the side of performance though the new i series I thought would have brought more to the table but they are still beaten in some areas by the older gen core2 series. I wouldn't consider buying an i3 or i5 but definitely an i7 because the i7 brought better things compared to it's lower counterparts.
