Hi! I've got Vmware workstation 7 + snow leopard on windows 7 64bits.

Method used: the snowy_vm technique, described here.

Hardware specs: IP-35PROm, intel Q6600, 4gb ram, GeForce 8800 GT

What's happening: I was able to install Snow Leopard retail DVD without any problem following the method described in the above link. However, at the point where the computer is meant to reboot and present you with the registration screen, I got stuck at the apple logo boot screen. This in itself didn't worry me as the snowy_vm readme.txt warned this could happen and recommended to 'try and and try again'.

Sure enough after 7 reboot it finally booted and the registration screen came up. I installed the tools and the sound drivers from the darwin.iso and rebooted twice. On the second reboot (after installing the sound driver), I became unable to boot again.

I tried booting around 30 times then finally tried verbose boot. Sure enough it starts well then hangs around 35 seconds in at "waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out"

I CAN get past this by using the -legacy flag when booting osx. Unfortunately this isn't ideal as you can imagine.

Does anyone know or has experience with what might be going on there? I'd love to boot in without having to use the legacy flag.

Many thanks!

Quick edit: it also crashes on shutdown, that is, when you shut down normally you get a message that looks like a KP saying ' you must shutdown your computer now by pressing the power button '

Not sure why you get yourself into this method while there is a massive post for this by Donk where everybody is happy and have their VM-MAC working ??

try to follow the herd ;)

Because that method didn't work for me, I can't even install osx with it. Immediate KP. I think it's a processor thing, I got a quad core.

I have quad core processor too and Donk's guide works flawless... try reading the guide insted ; )

Hi,

I followed this guide: http://www.longhorn.dk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=64 and it worked extremely well.

Sorry, Guy's but this looks like another rip off of Donk's hard work, hopefully a new and definitive guide will be coming to a store near you soon!
