The FreeBird
Can I run Intel Mac applications on my AMD Hackintosh? With Voodoo kernel 9.7.0. Won't it give me the unsupported architecture error? Thanks, urgent help needed!!!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/205349-can-i-run-intel-mac-applications-on-my-amd-hackintosh/ Share on other sites
el Kabong
I'm pretty sure that's the kernel I'm running on my Opteron Hackintosh, so far EVERYTHING runs fine. The Opteron I'm using is equivalent to the AMD Athlon FX-51 but with dual cores. I'm running Safari, Firefox, Thunderbird, MsOffice, iLife, and Symantec AV. The only issue I found is that Firefox is a bit slow so we normally run Safari. Can I run Intel Mac applications on my AMD Hackintosh? With Voodoo kernel 9.7.0. Lord_Jeremy
Intel application is a small misnomer. Technically AMD uses the same architecture as Intel, though there are some differing instructions and CPU features hence the need for the Voodoo kernel. Universal Binaries and Intel apps should run just fine. The only reason I can think of they wouldn't is if they have some weird CPUID stuff, but that would be very very rare. And actually I think Voodoo spoofs the CPUIDs anyway...
