This is my first post... please be gentle and point me in right direction if I happen to break any local laws :)

I have 10.5.8 running on a Gigabyte GA-P45-UD3LR. It seems fine for most of the stuff I do. I installed from retail DVD using the method described here - UD3LR Retail Guide

After the install, I used kext helper to install the 2 sound kexts (HDA and HDAEnabler), and I can get my 2.1 speakers working fine. The problem is that I cannot get headphones working. Some details:

System profiler shows

Under system preferences -> sound, I only have Internal Speakers (connected to my 2.1 speakers), 2 Line Out, and Digital out as outputs (no headphoone?)

I don't have an HDA front header. My case has front jacks with 3.5mm jacks. I was hoping I can use one of the the back outputs as headphone out (am I wrong assuming that?)

So I looked at the this topic, and seems there are more HDA kexts to try out... but I should admit I don't understand the whole thing very well, so wanted to check on the following before I went too far spoiling my otherwise working audio

1. Is this even possible from the back outputs? Or do I need HDA front header installed (the motherboard has support)?

2. I checked all the back outputs... seems only one of them functions. I managed to switch the output to another jack by playing with options in system preferences, but I am not sure how I did that. It's back to old jack as only working output after the reboot

3. If I try out other HDA kexts, and sound breaks, how easy is it to come back to kexts I have now? Is it as easy as reinstalling using kext helper?

4. Any other ideas?

I may not understand this fully right now, but I am able to read and understand, provide information and follow instructions if you point me in right direction (afterall, I have a fully working install before this post ;-) )
