okay so ive done a bit of searching around and ive come up with this. now unfortunatly i dont actually have my new laptop yet its estimated delivery date is the 14th of january! >.> but that gives me time to do abit of research

so far as an idea without actually trying them ive come u with this (which is just a shot in the dark)

Bootloader: Chameleon v2

chipset: not really sure maybe intel ICHx SATA Drivers?

Other Drivers: Just Sata Patch, NTFS3G

kernel: i think is vanilla

Sound: Audio HP_DV5_IDT_V2

wireless: AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext with Dev ID inserted

Usb: usb patched

Power: Voodoo Battery - Sleep Enabler - FakeSMC

Trackpad + keypad: VoodooPS2 Controller with VoodooPS2Trackpad also placed into /S/L/E

(dont really understand that yet)

Graphics: ive heard is not supported but have seen two ways of perhaps doing it

first being: Graphics Enabler and Dev ID inserted into ATIRadeonX2000.kext and ATI4500Controller.kext

second being: i've forgotten ill search round :)

so far thats what ive got as an idea any input would be greatly apreciated thanks

oh and if this is now in the wrong forum please let me know and ill move it i dont really know were to put it ;) thanks!

EDIT:

forgot to mention im not sure what DEV ID is if anybody could explain that would be brilliant

i think it could be device id? not sure what it means by that tho thanks

Yes DEV ID is the device id.

Its probably not that important to you... You can get it in the os, then insert it into your kexts ifyou feel inclined or are forced to for compatibility.

You should be fine, but a lot of it comes down to trial and error. Oh, and you will need to patch a certain DSDT.aml file for compatibility with snow leopard. This can be done in win or osx 10.5...

Use the hackintosh search tool for more info

Hackintosh Search

As for the keyboard stuff you "don't understand" Charmeleon makes its own directory called extra in the root of a drive. In there is the folders. The voodoo kexts you refered to live in the system, library, extensions folder, not related to the bootloader. This is because some bootloaders don;t load kexts properly from /Extra

arhhh thanks! very much that answers alot of my questions! i cannot thank you enought :P

as for the dsdt ive just been reading about that but theres just alot to take onboard and wounderd if u could answer a question for me?

theres a patcher for it that u can download

seems pretty simple just select the drive your installing or have mac os x installed to then just click darwin/macosx and away we go but there seems to be people saying its more complicated than that is that true?

another thing i am using a distro am searching round for one now have about 4 on my side now i think theres an option in the install to jsut click patch dsdt would this have the same effect as doing it manually?

sorry if the questions seem silly but i am a massive n00b if u cant tell ;)

ok several things...

In a mac install you can use the patcher. It was originally made when the dsdt became necessary for boards around 10.5.5 or something, i never needed it then. In snow leopard, a bug resets the cmos on boot without a patch. You can do this manually quite easily.

This would give you the dsdt.aml in its most basic form. A patcher for windows can take in a bios file, then a dsdt.aml and patch either. When this is being done, you can add "drivers" for audio, network and video, hence removing the need for certain kexts. Although this may not be the easiest approach for begginers, its good to look into. You could always try to get someone to patch one for you.

Another thing to remember with dsdt.aml's is that you SHOULD NOT share them. They are pretty system specific, and although trying one that someone else made for their system may work, its not a good idea for certain reasons and issues that will be encountered later. Sharing them can also result in the systems potential being unused.

The distro for Snow i didn;t know was out, and its great for n00bs, but not a great way to install... they are usually messy installs and not as finely tuned. The patcher in a distro MAY have the same effect as manually patching or win patching, but i cannot help there...

Any other questions feel free to shoot...

I've Managed to install Snow Leopard onto my Studio 1555 And its all up and Running perfectly (ill post my spec at the end of this post)

Excluding Obviously the Graphics as i have a ATI 4570 its all working quite nicely however i cannot change the resolution from 1024x768

I've tried adding the graphics mode string to the boot.plist but it hasn't made any difference!

just wondering if anybody has any ideas on what i could do to change my resolution it would be really appreciated!

Oh and if anybody needs any help installing Snow Leopard to a studio 1555 ask away.
