Hi everyone,

I'm prety new here, and after searching.. and searching.. and well.. searching some more.. i'm allmost about to give up.

I have a Dell D420 laptop, cute little {censored}.

I present have Linux Mint, OSX and Windows 7 Ultimate in a grub-based multi boot.

Linux Mint: Running great without any probs.

Windows 7: Running even better without any probs. at all

OSX 10.5: the trouble child, and this is the OS i realy want to work correct.

My problems are:

* Sound dosent work

* Internet network (rj45) dosent work (osx dosent detect it)

* Graphics can seem slow and sluggish, eg. i'm unable to play movies from youtube

* Build-in wireless network is a pain to get connected to a network.. sometimes have to turn it on/off 4-5 times

* Build-in 3g modem dosent get detected

* SD Card reader dosent work

* When network (eg. usb2lan adapter from dell) have been connected for some time, it just freezes.

Now.. i know its alot of problems, but i'm willing to pay somebody, if they can eg. using teamviewer, logon to the laptop and fix those issues for good.

I would realy love to get a stable OSX running on it - right now i'm running Kalyway 10.5.2 (i think), because all other dists. just gives me a blank screen after installation (works on external tho)

Regards,

Leon

It should work I have the same graphic card for audio it should work as well if installing retail OSX.

Check the last page I believe it page 28.

thank you, thank you!

running 10.5.6 on my dell d420.

Got everything running even with a Leopard upgrade DVD (trick is to choose "restore with time machine" then cancel, which takes you back to the installation page, but this time with the "continue" button made clickable) on my d420, which I just could not get the video to work. but with Leppy600m's ISO it worked!

sleep is perfect with the password in Bios after the clamshell kext install from "dell laptops post installer" (thanks to Gujal)

but I just can't get any form of scrolling to work unfortunately. granted I could be loading the kexts wrong, but I've tried the voodoo ps2 kext and the alps driver with FFScroll to no avail. (anyone have any hints for that?)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi,

Just wanted to followup, i followed the guy, and insanely enough.. IT WORKED ;)

Now just a couple of things left to fix:

* SD Card Reader

* Bluetooth

* 3g (mobile broadband)

* PCMCIA (pc card)

Any suggestions ?
