Hi Everyone,

Gigabyte and ASUS now have their new P55 Motherboards available with the SATA 6GB/s and USB 3.0 support. These are:

ASUS: P7P55D-E Series

Gigabyte: GA-P55A Series

Has anyone had a successful install with the new boards yet?

Which series is best for Snow Leopard and what techniques and files are being used for the new feature sets?

What features are not working on Snow Leopard installs using these motherboards?

Any recommendations for which board is best for Snow Leopard?

I'm planning on buying a P7P55D-E Deluxe or the GA-P55A-UD6 and wish to make sure I buy the most compatible board.

Oh, add this in "ASUS Model U3S6 USB 3.0 & SATA 6Gb/s Add-on card". Did anybody try this in your Hackint0sh?

I use a P55A-UD3 motherboard, and everything just pretty much works. However, I haven't tested USB3 nor SATA6 yet.

Things that work are graphics (I have a Geforce GTX 285), network, sound, full use of processing power (shows 8 cores in activity monitor) and sleep/reboot/shutdown.

I have both of these motherboards and they are almost the same with just a few differences in getting Snow Leopard installed but they are minor differences.

I am actually working on extensive video tutorials on installing and comparing both that will accompany a written tutorial. But everything works like Speedstep (thanks to Bchemist and d00d for their DSDT work for ASUS and Gigabyte respectively), audio, and sleep. There's some others who donated their P55's for me to test and I'll be reviewing these also :P

Right now 3.0 USB and SATA 6G don't have support so the 3.0's are just working like 2.0's for now but from what I've been reading support is coming soon ;)

Expect the first of my guides within the next week or so complete with DSDT editing. I plan to make it the ultimate noob guide :)

I am using the GA-P55A-UD3P - works very well but need SleepEnabler for sleep.

can i ask how you got mac running on your machine? i've just built a machine with a Asus P55 motherboard, and can't even seem to get leopard installed... i'm using Kalyway 10.5.1, which if i enter "cpus=1" stalls at the grey apple loading screen, or if i try using -v for example, it hangs after stating MAC framework comlete.

any help would be much appreciated

Hi mdnz01, i got this MB P55A-UD3P, it's the same as yours? If yes, could you please send me a link or tutorial how to install SL 10.6.2?
