Looking to build a new computer this xmas, and I'm a bit stymied as to what motherboard to choose. I have a lot of experience with my old crappy hardware, of which I have lots, but I've never actually built a custom PC before. Basically i'm trying to find a motherboard and graphics card (already settled on the Intel Core Duo 2 or Quad, due to relative cheapness.) So, what boards stand out, relating to OS X compatibility? Any replies are greatly appreciated.

gigabyte all the way

for dirt cheap core 2 duo or HTPC, the G31/G41 boards are popular

for slightly more, a P45 board, maybe EP45-UD3L or UD3R

if your considering core 2 quad, consider an i5 750 & P55M-UD2 combo as well.

as for graphics, virtually any nvidia 9000 or 200 series card will do nicely, depending on your budget & needs. for the most part all have the same compatibility, but dual-dvi beats dvi/vga/hdmi hybrid.

ATI cards will work too, most popular cards are supported other than new 5000 series, but methods vary based on card, and i have little experience w em.

9000 series dual-DVI cards are as compatible as you can get on a hackintosh

my 9800GT & 9800GTX+ run with no more configuration than "GraphicsEnabler=yes" in... com.boot.apple.plist i think

oh, and for 10.6.2 a rollback of two Nvidia .kexts to their 10.6.1 version is needed to bypass a new bug.
