alvin777
Hi. I'm thinking of upgrading to i7 but it's out of budget for now if I upgrade to an i7 mobo, CPU and DDR3. I'm on a quad CD2 (stable undervoltaged at 0.87 volts) with 4GB DDR800 Ballistix, 4870 1GB. The only one that's not working with my setup is the built-in sound and sleep. I can't find a work around for the 5.1 AL883 sound chip. I'm thinking if I buy a USB sound, I could already buy a mobo (I'll have redundant sound system). What's the good, most affordable mobo (it does not have to be overclocking model since I stopped overclocking) compatible with Quad core Q6600 that's completely compatible with 10.6.2 (which I use now) that will have everything working especially the sound and will have sleep, OpenCL, OpenGL and Core technologies, without patches preferably? Or should I just buy an i7mobo and CPU plus 4GB DDR3? Thanks in advance. Gbu. heikland
Take a look in the Tutorials section in this forum and the OSx86 Wiki Hardware Compatibility list. You will find install guides and recommendations. I personally, would go for a Gigabyte motherboard with Intel P43 or P45 chip.
