Didnt see anything on this, so I thought I would throw it out there. After reading around on some threads and searching the apple support forums, I really wanted to add bluetooth to my Hackintosh so I could use my apple wireless keyboard and mouse. Obviously compatability was a concern, but I also wanted the ability to wake from sleep in Snow Leopard. I stumbled upon an article in Apple support that recommended the Targus ACB10US Bluetooth Adaptor. I checked on Fry's website, and went to the store and they had it. I plugged it in, and it worked right off the bat asking me if I wanted to set up devices. Best part is, it was only $12.99! Anyway, so far so good, both keyboard and mouse are working well (using them to type this). So this isnt a thread looking for help, just wanted to thank everyone for their contributions to the OS86X community and contribute my findings of success. (I am on 10.6.2 by the way)

edit:: i meant i ordered the nub version from that site above.

but i saw a post i thinkj in a osx 86 site (i think on our boards) saying that the Stick version only works for sleep (the silver older verison of the acb10us)...

hm

i PMd you. hope you reply.

Yes, I have the little black nub version. After having it for a week or so now, the keyboard does wake from sleep, however the mouse does not. Therefor I keep it plugged in to the front of my case so I can remove it after waking from sleep with the keyboard. I plug it back in, and then the mouse and keyboard both work. Kind of odd.

here is the post i was talking about

I was determined to make them work. I went out today and brought another BT dongle, the Targus ACB10US (rev. 2) as per Apple's support site. Unfortunately after reading the Targus web page it looks like only the older Rev 1 (long stick) will support Mac. Rev 2 (shorter stick) will not. Apple's support page did not make it very clear. After spent $34 at the local Office Depot I found out the Targus bluetooth dongle is worst than the Trust dongle. Both MM and Keyboard will work. But neither device will wake from the sleep mode no matter what I do.

Good luck. Thanks to LocusOfControl for recommending the Trust dongle. I am so happy. Now my system is fully functioning like a $3000 mac. :D

'"

and sorry, i dont understand what you mean. " the keyboard does wake from sleep" and "so I can remove it after waking from sleep with the keyboard. I plug it back in, and then the mouse and keyboard both work."

Do you mean that the wireless bluetooth keyboard wakes up the computer when u hit a key?

But the mouse doesn't.

and the mouse doesn't work when you wake the computer? So you unplug it and replug it in and everything resyncs again?

Do you also use that steerMouse app or whatever? or vanilla (nothing just the adapter)

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.

Yes, the keyboard will wake from sleep when I just hit a key. The keyboard will then continue working fine, no issues, so yea the keyboard works 100%. The mouse however does not wake from sleep, and for some reason does not automatically connect after waking from sleep. To get around this, I just unplug the bluetooth dongle, and then plug it back in, and OSX will resync with both the mouse and keyboard.

I havent used anything to try to get it to work, this is just with a vanilla install. Is there an app you were suggesting to try? I can give it a go if you want and let you know my results. From reading the apple website, I bought the exact model they linked to.

OK Thanks a lot, that a cleared up a lot.

I purhcased both models. I'll make a new thread and what not.

TThe app I was talking about was called SteerMouse supposedly some adapters were enabled to wake the computer with the mouse and keyboard.

I'll report back.
