I tried installing x1600 video card driver it was a .pkg apparantly it came from ipc, some guy has the same card as me but different device ID. It worked for him however I installed it and when I restarted the computer just goes to a black screen after they grey apple screen. Can somebody PLEASE provide me a driver with instructions, this is like my 4th thread asking for a driver and not ONCE did I get a response. Only one guy did 3 days ago. errandwolfe
Well there can be quite a few reasons why this has happened. I would suggest not depending on a package to do your work for you. There are several threads on this site that tell you have to get the 1600 working. Try those steps, if you still have problems, reply and give detailed results for each step your perform. errandwolfe
No I can not provide a guide, I can however point you to one of the SEVERAL guides that are already posted here.... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=185526 Also please don't take this personally but I need to vent for a moment.....This website is a fantastic resource of knowledge for the hackintosh community but it does no good if you don't SEARCH. That is the problem with packages, while it makes things more accessible it discourages actually LEARNING how to get these things working on your own. The x1600 is one of the easiest ATI cards to get working since the kexts are provided natively. Look I know the search built into the site kinda sucks, but all people have to do is go to google and do a directed search of this site. For example: In the google search box simply type "x1600 site:insanelymac.com" and you are presented with several threads with the instructions you are looking for. Now if you have any questions beyond that I will be happy to do my best to help you. I suggest you read the full thread though before asking questions so you have a good grasp on what you need to do. I looked at that guide and honestly its confusing as hell to me. It says snow when hes writing in terminal I'm not even in snow.. I assume I'm supossed to put the name of my hard drive wich is "Mac OS X" but I don't want to risk it, and he also says make sure theses two are on the same line and I don't get what hes saying.. AND finally I downloaded both parts and when I extract them they are both the same folder with the same 5 files.. Can you tell me what I am supossed to put in the terminal, I am not reinstalling mac for the 10th time. Sorry if I sound angry but I have done this before.. I HAVE searched like 50 different threads which all lead to me reinstalling, yeah i get i must be doing something wrong but when nobody responds to me its damn annoying. Yes "Snow" is simply the volume name, you would replace this with whatever your OSX volume is called. 2. Backup your ATIX1000.kext file 3. Edit the info.plist inside of this kext to include your device ID. 4. Repair permissions 5. Reboot. If you have any problems after reboot, simply boot into single user mode and delete the kext. On your next reboot you will boot into a simple VGA mode. Restore the kext from the backup and you will be back where you started. You will not have to reinstall OS X.
