ja.bills
I was going through the dual boot process on taranfx.com http://www.taranfx.com/blog/install-mac-os...in-9-easy-steps I used iATKOS as my live cd. Let me just go through what i did. So,i created the OS X partition booted the cd formated in extended journal installed OS X on the partition Go to boot Darwin loads and counts down I press a button to load prompt I select OS X and it loads the Apple Splash Screen THEN ---- Black and restarts Also, my windows 7 bootmsg died. I tried to repair and it refuses to work after "successful" repair. Kinda locked out, Should i try reinstalling os x? Thanks for the input Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197433-windows-7-leopard-os-x-boot-failure/ Share on other sites
razy60
Hi, can you get into anything. if not i would try the windows repair again, make sure you use the command line repair and use the wording exactly as it is in that link. Reloading osx wont help. Do you have an actual windows 7 disk or is it a backup disc that you got with laptop. razy60
Hi, command line repair is always best just do it word for word and in the correct case. dont forget to use easy bcd in windows to create boot for OSX if chameleon doesn't work. Jordy27
Hi, I just installed iDeneb and had a similiar problem to you. OSX wouldn't start (for me Darwin wouldn't even load) and I couldn't repair windows boot manager for my windows 7 partition (even command line repair gave errors, arghh!). It turns out that the reason I couldn't restore windows is because the OSX install changed the 'active partition' to the OSX partition, rather than the windows partition. So when you use the windows install disk, it only sees the active OSX partition and not the windows partition, hence cannot repair anything. To fix this, I ran the OSX install disk. When you get to the installer, go to utilities > terminal. Using 'fdisk' commands, you can change the active partition back to windows, insert your windows disk, run startup repair, and it should work! If you need help with fdisk commands, just ask, but you should be able to google it After that, I got OSX working by installing EasyBCD on windows 7, and adding a boot entry for Mac > generic x86 pc. Hope that helps some! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197433-windows-7-leopard-os-x-boot-failure/#findComment-1330271 Share on other sites
