Marco Parente
Great Marco!, tell us how you succeed.. reply us with a nice post written for dummies (surely as me) I Successfully installed ideneb 10.5.7 in a ide hd, using a sata dvd. I used the board with the default configuration. Used the vanillla kernel, smbios800 and the ichx patch. The installation went ok and wen i rebooted i was getting the error "using 16384 buffer headers..." i then had the lucky move to try to boot the system with a pen drive i made to try to install snow leopard, without success, and using the pen, with the latest chameleon on it, and the Extra folder in the attachment, with a modified dsdt, i successfully booted and configured the system. I made the pen using a vmware image of leopard, but any pc running osx can be used. if you guys have problems, say something. Marco thanks Marco for your help..i reached the point of part omissed from your post, after this i don't go on, because i don't understand the pen's role..you have installed SL on the pen before the installation on hd? Could you write us all the procedure step by step? Marco Parente
thanks Marco for your help..i reached the point of part omissed from your post, after this i don't go on, because i don't understand the pen's role..you have installed SL on the pen before the installation on hd? Could you write us all the procedure step by step? Thanks very very much F On the pen i only installed the chameleon rc3 bootloader and added the modified dsdt.aml to the extra folder (The extra folder is also on the pen). Using the pen i was able to boot the leopard installation on the ide hd. Booting directly from the hd, without using the pen, would give me an error. After the system was running, i installed the bootloader on the hd and copied the Extra folder to the hd. To make the bootable pen you need other mac, or a running vmware image of a mac. If you don't install any graphics drivers (like i did) you have to boot with the -v and -x options, and then after the system is running, install the driver for your graphics card. Try and then say something. Marco. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197230-leo-on-asus-p5qpl-am-which-distro/#findComment-1355606 Share on other sites

bobywankenoby
Hi, I have the asus P5QL-CM and i just installed ideneb 10.6 without any problem...I booted on the ideneb CD and then just took what I needed, with chameleon V2 as bootloader already included. To be able to boot on the CD, I followed the default settings from Iaktos (uphuck website). The installation succeeded on my sata HDD with an IDE cd rom But the computer didn't want to boot! I found that I had to dowload a modified bios to make it running fine! Here is the link: http://www.applelife.ru/topic/9948-p5q-pro/ There are bios for all P5Q... Last thing/ I have a ati radeon 3650 HD and after installation, the screen was not displayed correctly (impossible to see anything!) so I installed the right kext on this HDD with an another machine under leopard... If you have a nvidia card, it should be good from the first shot! hope this can help. Marco Thanks, I am using the onboard Graphics of the P5QPL-AM Board. Using Default 0317 BIOS, I can only boot to the GRAY APPLE Logo, it just sits there. When I load iDeneb 10.5.7, the command I use to boot is: vanilla_kernel -v What else am I missing in there? When I use only -v, then it sits in the "<key>IOProviderCalss</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key>...etc" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197230-leo-on-asus-p5qpl-am-which-distro/#findComment-1362754 Share on other sites
