Vostro15
Hi there, I am thinking about using Rebel EFI just for the simplicity of a one cd solution and I know that this motherboard is considered to be fully working with Rebel EFI. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Q8200-Quad-Core-...=item4cea49ff15 I would be very greatful if you could have a look at the link and give me some feedback. Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/196378-can-someone-check-out-this-build-for-me/ Share on other sites
Zaap
Should work great. The wireless card may or may not work. If you want dual DVI monitors, that graphic card probably won't work for that as it has HDMI that may not work for OSx86, and VGA. I don't know that you necessarily need the Rebel EFI though. If anything, use it to set the computer up with Snow Leopard, then use Chameleon and the right kexts to complete the system- I think psystar is trying to rip people off to have to pay for thier 'kext-finder' tool, when you can do the same yourself easily for free. At any rate, it's hard to go wrong with the E2SL motherboard. LogicalUser
Other than the video card concern Zaap mentioned, all the parts seem like they'd do well for OSX. With that said, it looks to be under $400-450 US worth of parts from a retailer like newegg, so I guess the choice depends on your expertise at assembling a machine from parts. As for Rebel EFI, perhaps 2-4 hours of reading & experimentation with the resources available on this site will yield the same results when using compatible components, again, it all depends on your level of expertise. Vostro15
Okay thanks, Could you reccommend a graphics card that work well (with HDMI) almost OOB (9400+ if possible). If guess if I bought something like this then it would just work with no modifications needed. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ATI-RADEON-HD3780-MA...=item2303b995fd The wireless should work, Ive looked up the model number on the HCL and it seems to work. I was planning to set up with Rebel EFI (Free) and then when I know the kexts etc I cn switch to chameleon. I am in the UK and, unfortunatley, we don't have newegg and PC parts are a bit more expensive, so for me to build a system like this myself, it would probably cost just £30 less. Thanks for your help. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/196378-can-someone-check-out-this-build-for-me/#findComment-1323305 Share on other sites
