Hi. i am trying to get my video card working correctly with osx86. apps that require Quartz extreme will not load and in system preferences the only resolution available is 1024x768.

i do not like that because the garageband window seems "cramped" and too small. help?

i think my refresh rate is 60 but i am not sure.

oh and if it helps i have an insignia d400a desktop.

PCI-express is not a requirement for working QE and CI.

My P4 hackintosh (see sig) is running vanilla 10.5.8 with an AGP video card and it works great. Only caveat is that AGP is not working, so the card is recognized as a PCI card (33MHz transfer speed). But all that means is that it doesn't play games at high resolutions.

I haven't tried installing Snow on it yet, I heard AGP cards don't work at all in 10.6. Besides I need a working 10.5.x install for other purposes.

If your motherboard doesn't have AGP either, I'm sure you could use a plain old PCI card if you can find one with a supported chipset.

Updating to 10.6.x will not improve your situation.
