Hi all, unfortunately I'm not able to start a topic in the GFX general section (need to select ATi or Nvidia first) so thought I'd ask here.

I'm currently running a successful Leopard Retail install with Chameleon but looking to upgrade to Snow Leopard. No problems with doing this, read the guides etc but going to pick up a second HD and thought, while I'm at it, I'll upgrade my graphics card.

I'm currently using an 8800GT (XFX 512MB Alpha Dog) but unfortunately it doesn't like to run WoW very well and it's the only game I like to play.

I am looking for input as to which card may run the best with limited tampering, preferably none :) I've heard the Zotac's are pretty good and have a big enough chip for mac bios flashing if needed.

I have been considering an ATi 46** or 48** series but not sure which ones will support Open CL so I'd like confirmation on that.

Also, doesn't have to be ATi, Nvidia is fine!

I'm not looking for a top of the line card, just something good enough to run WoW in decent detail.

Also, if you feel my 8800GT will be supported in SL a bit better than please let me know, I just thought while I was out picking up another HD, I'd grab a GFX card as well.

Thanks in advance!

I just realised my motherboard doesn't support PCIe 2.0, is that a dealbreaker?

Thanks for your input, those cards are alot more affordable which is a plus.

I did check the HCL but was focusing more on ATi. I remember netkas mentioning something about the Nvidia drivers for OS X being junk.

I was focusing more on the 4850 or 4870 but I might just grab a 9800GTX.
