Can't get the right resolution with SL and EEE 1002ha
ProgHippie replied to smeicy's topic in OSx86 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Try DisplayConfigX or SwitchResX. Google will help you. -
Try deactivating the JMicron-ATA-Controller in Bios. (Onboard devices or so)

Dual booting 10.6.2 and Win7: Strange error on reboot
ProgHippie posted a topic in OSx86 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Dear all So I finally got my hackintosh dual booting with 10.6.2 and Win 7, using Chameleon RC3. Now there's one strange error: Everytime I use Win 7 and then reboot to get back to Chameleon screen and then select my Snow partition, I get a Kernel panic. If I then reset the computer, get to the Chameleon screen and select Snow again, everything works flawlessly. So it's just the first time I boot 10.6.2 after Win 7 where the thing crashes. Has anyone had similar problems? Thanks for your help. Here's what diskutil list says, just in case /dev/disk0 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: GUID_partition_scheme *500.1 GB disk0 1: EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1 2: Apple_HFS Snow 499.8 GB disk0s2 /dev/disk1 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: FDisk_partition_scheme *300.1 GB disk1 1: Windows_NTFS 92.8 GB disk1s1 2: Windows_NTFS Restore 207.3 GB disk1s5 /dev/disk2 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: GUID_partition_scheme *1.0 TB disk2 1: EFI 209.7 MB disk2s1 2: Apple_HFS Data 355.5 GB disk2s2 3: Apple_HFS Library 644.1 GB disk2s3 -
Recommended GFX card for use with Snow Leopard
ProgHippie replied to Akshunhiro's topic in OSx86 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
i would go with a 9x series of nvidia, all working rock solid in SL. but have a look here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...#Graphics_Cards -
for 10.5.x use any of the ditros, for instance iPC for 10.6 google for installation tutorials, there are many!

www.technow.cc eee series is great.

Dear all I have SL running beautifully on my EEE 1000H - Audio, WiFi, Shutdown, Hibernation, ... EVERYTHING. The only thing that doesn't work (and it is a quite annoying one) is the battery thingie. Although it recognises the battery, it always says that it is 0% loaded and in the status bar I get this crossed out battery... I used both Voodoo Battery and another AppleBattery something I can't recall right now. Long story short: Please tell me how to get battery status etc. working! Thanks 1000h with Chameleon RC3 and kexts...

{censored}, that didn't work. reinstalled it, tried again. nothing works. kexts still not loaded, still same kernel panic. bah. any other ideas? could it be a hardware problem of sorts? used the method on http://tinyurl.com/mtkbpw, installed everything from my original iMac running 10.5.8

thanks for the input! how would you set those permissions? of course i dropped them over kextutility and used the new extensions folder + the extensions.mkext i installed via retail via a leopard machine...

Dear all I had SL running beautifully for over a month, until i trashed my own install due to stupidity (yes, stupidity.) Anyway. So I reinstalled SL with the method that perfectly worked for me a month ago, but it just doesn't seem to work anymore. Although I am almost 100% sure that I did everything the exact same way as before, I can't get it to run anymore, I always get a kernel panic. A shot of the panic is found here (couldn't add attachement) http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/9827/p1080875.jpg Any help will be HIGHLY appreciated. Asus P5W E6600 Dual Core Nvidia 9800GT using chameleon RC1 with snow leo support (boot file) and own kexts in /Extras, compiled with kextutility EFI string Please guys... I want my snowkittie back!

Graphics problem (all of a sudden)
ProgHippie replied to ProgHippie's topic in OSx86 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
if i boot with -x -v -f everything works... -
Dear all I was goofing around with my Hackintosh, making another HD a 10.6. system for my laptop. I paid VERY close attention that I applied all changes ONLY at the laptop-HD, and as far as I remember, I managed to that, too. Now, all of a sudden, I can't boot my original machine in 64 bit anymore - it just hangs at the blue screen - right before the wallpaper and then the dock icons should appear. In 32-bit, it all works flawlessly (all data in system profiler is correct, too). I restored the extension folder (E/E) and rebuilt the mkext with kextutility. Still I don't get it to work. I am using EFI-String with Chameleon 2 RC1. Any ideas on what else I could try? I am fully aware that 64bit doesn't bring any advantage - but it's for the sake's sake that I want it running Thanks for ideas. Cheers
