Mylan Connolly
Hey guys I saw that there is finally driver support for the GTX260 so I decided to give installing it a shot, however the OS will not boot (at all) Right after it gets to the line where it's loading the kernel (something to that effect, I haven't had time to read it) it reboots automatically. I have tried both the -x and -v options, I don't know about any other options that may help, or if there is anything wrong with my configuration. I have an ASUS P6T6 motherboard with an Intel Core i7 920. 6GB of RAM and a SATA hard drive / SATA CD drive. I tried both IDE mode and AHCI mode, both yielded identical results. Ubuntu boots just fine, as does Windows 7 so I know my hardware is sound. Anyone that can provide any insight/help would be my personal savior! vilpostus
What disk you are using to install from? Try booting with other kernels (if any available on the install disk). e.g. -v voodoo for verbose mode an voodoo kernel. I think they were both 10.5.7, although I don't know if either had the Voodoo kernel in the disk, because that option gave me the same results :-(. Is there another distribution that might work out better? It's kinda hard to keep up with all the ones floating around since I don't know too much about the OSX86 scene. Thanks Mylan Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/195727-asus-p6t6-wont-boot/#findComment-1319329 Share on other sites
vilpostus
The same kernal may be called differently on a different disks. e.g. voodoo may be named as: 9.5.0voodoo voodoo950 mach_kernel.voodoo So try a different styles. EDIT: For iAtkos v7 voodoo kernels are named like this:mach_970 (this is a voodoo 9.7.0) and mach-kernel (this is the default kernel; it is voodoo 9.5.0) May try iAtkos v4i Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/195727-asus-p6t6-wont-boot/#findComment-1319857 Share on other sites

Mylan Connolly
Didn't work. I'm downloading iATKOS 4i and am going to try that out tomorrow if it's done by then, and we'll see how that goes I guess. Mylan Connolly
Okay I tried out iATKOS 4.1i, and the bootup goes further before it crashes. Now the screen resolution changes to the smaller text before failing (whereas before it did not do that yet). I don't know if this is progress or not, but I tried doing the voodoo switch you suggested (I tried several, not sure if any of them were correct, it never failed at the same time (more lines would show or less lines would show but the boot up process was so fast I couldn't note which line failed). Any more suggestions? I really appreciate all the help so far. EDIT: I found out that I got the syntax wrong on the bootloader when I tried iATKOS v7. It was previously not loading the kernel mach_970. I got it right with the disk, and now it is behaving like iATKOS v4.1i. Not sure if this helps any. EDIT 2: On a hunch I disabled virtualization tech, and all but one core, as well as hyperthreading. Doing all that, and loading the mach_970 kernel, I got OS X to install. However, it will not boot after the install process. It does not reboot, it just seems like it hangs in the boot up process. Any help? Mylan Connolly
Found out some more info. Hopefully this will be of help: When OS X goes to boot up (mind you this is after the installer successfully did its thing), it hangs. If I leave it sit long enough, the display will go to sleep and will not resume after I hit a key or move the mouse. The computer stays on, but it doesn't do anything. When I booted into it from GRUB (It's GRUB 2, beta 4) (OS X is on a seperate hard drive), it does not show the Apple logo, it shows the command line output, and the line it hangs on is: MAC Framework successfully initialized Using 15728 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers I'd really like to get this sorted out, I feel like I am so close! derpuma
Hi there, I have a WS Revolution with SnowLeo running 100% with Sound, Ethernet, etc. I did a retail install from a running OSX! If you want me to share my 132Boot Extra and DSDT Files, I can give you an upload by tomorrow! Just clone a clean retail installation of Snow to your ne Disk. Copy Extra Folder. Install EFI 10.5, that put the clone disk to your p6t6 board, boot up and use kextutility to make mkext and clear/rebuild other kextcaches. Thats it. Only thing it doesn't do his job are the two eSata Ports at the back! Any help for that? IF there is anyone out there witt working eSata on the p6t6, how did you do it? Would be great to bring them to life! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/195727-asus-p6t6-wont-boot/#findComment-1339035 Share on other sites
