Hey guys!

I have a couple of problems.

1) 10.4.6 JaS disc installs fine but wont boot - keep getting the infamous gray screen of death telling me to restart and I don't have the -v boot option to see where the problem is. No clue as to why

2) 10.4.6 Goatsects disc also installs fine but keeps kext cacheing then restarts but at least I have the -v boot option - Also have no clue as to why this is happening.

Although I can install and boot 10.4.5 without any problems. See my sig for hardware details.

Please help!

Thanks in advance

THe only real difference between your system and mine is the video card.. I used JaS 10.4.6 with PPF1 applied before burning, installed with Intel patches, SSE3 & wireless networking support and it booted fine.. are you dual booting?

The only problem I have left is getting my Belkin F5D7000 v 5 wireless G card to be recognized. Built in ethernet works though..

I doubt it's your video card. What options are you choosing during the install? I used the Intel Base System, the 10.4.6 update and the SSE3 patches on my similar deskop. On this T41 Thinkpad I did pretty much the same except I installed the SSE2 patch. Everything works fine.

I'll have to get back to you on that one... I haven't tried to install it in a while as I have the public beta of vista ( I know, I know) on the other hard disk right now. I'll try tomorrow sometime and give you guys an update.

Okay so I just gave it another go and here are the results.

Loaded JaS disc with the following selected:

-intel.10.4.6.combo.update

-intel.sse3

-intel.sse2

Result:

- Installed fine, blinking cursor that slowly makes its way down the screen

Loaded Goat/S Disc with the following selected:

-MacOSXupd.10.4.5.intel

-MacOSXupd.10.4.6.intel

-10.4.4_sse3_only_kernal

Result:

-No boot options on darwin screen

-grey screen with apple logo

-constantly restarts.

Conclusion:

No idea what the hell is causing all this. Any help would be great!

Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem... no gray screen... just restarts (haven't been able to boot into OS X at all)... I get the darwin boot loader and the jumbled text, then POW, restart. When I chose "custom install" it gave me a box that said intel/amd patches, but there was no way to select sse2 or sse3 ... just one box, did I miss something there? I'm using jas 10.4.6

You have to click on the little arrow to the left of the "Intel/AMD patches" line to reveal the different choices.
