composer
Bascially I am aware that if you drag the application software to trash it uninstalls however, this really isn't the case as I did this and when I went to install it again, there where locations that I never even heard of and got a message like such and such a file exists already, do you want to update or replace it which goes against the theory that Apple OS simple uninstalls all the software bits and pieces! So is there anything like "system restore" or COMPLETE un-installer for the mac? Thank you. PS. Does Apple OS phone home? Applications etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19431-is-there-something-similar-to-system-restore-on-mac/ Share on other sites
ampTK
complex apps frequently have uninstaller simpler apps only leave behind some preferences and configuration (if any) files at ~/Library that aren't going hurt you. If you wish to remove those files you can remove 'em manually or an installer script (if there is one, witch is rare in simple apps) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19431-is-there-something-similar-to-system-restore-on-mac/#findComment-127288 Share on other sites

I'm not 100% certain, but Apple apps typically use the installer program to place all files and will either overwrite (if the original file is different), or leave it alone (if it's the same). Thank you.PS. Does Apple OS phone home? Applications etc. Typically, you don't have to worry about Apple apps phoning home, unless you have them illegally installed. Usually it's something like "Hey, you're listening to this! Here are some other songs you might like" ala iTunes. Seriously, Windows has gotten people so afraid of everything anymore. Metrogirl
... Seriously, Windows has gotten people so afraid of everything anymore. With good reason. Who knew that the damned Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Tool calls home every day to tell Microsoft you have a dubious version of Windoze? And to report your system configuration, installed sofware etc. even if you have a legal copy? Read all about it. 'Safety switch' my arse - it's downright spyware. If they phone home on the PC (many others too, Reason, Ableton Live) what would make one think it doesnt do the same on the Mac?
