Ati 4870 is working for me in SL with 2 Displays. First is DVI and second is VGA with adapter. Try to change DVI 1 with DVI 2 and use EvOenabler in s/l/e. By the way look here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=155477

wish you luck

I'm having the same problem here... only mirrored displays and the system only detects one of them (the one plugged on DVI port)

My specs:

MSI Pro-E X58

i7 920

4 GBs RAM

and the troublemaker:

MSI R4870 1GB with one DVI, one VGA and one HDMI. Two monitors plugged, one via VGA, one via DVI (with DVI>VGA adapter) haven't tested HDMI since I just don't have anything to plug it to...

Installed the card using "Simple guide to 48x0..." (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=155477) I get QE to work, but I can't get dual displays.

I have tried several ways, but the only cards that seem t work are the ones with two DVI ports, mine is not like that...

Any help, anyone?? I use a lot of Final Cut-AfterEffects-Color and i really need the dual display modes for all of those..

HEEEELLPPP!!!! :thumbsup_anim:

and thanxs

For me worked right off the bat. Dual screens connected to DVI. I used the driver from Iatkos 10.5.7 ati hd.

my card is the ati 4870 512 ddr5 dev id= 9440

:P

Hi!

Good to hear you got dual display working! I have an xfx 4870 1gb and think your sollution might work for me.

Could you tell me where to get the iatkos driver and how to install it ?

THANKS!!

I have a Sapphire Radeon 4870 1 GB dual DVI and it is working fine in 10.6.2 vanilla SL. Using Chameleon and PC EFI (EnableGraphics=yes), it auto detects the card. Here is the SS from Graphics / Displays:

I have the same problem. QE and CI DO work out of the box.

Got Leopard 10.5.8 and 2 monitors, the first one (Samsung T200) plugged with DVI connector, the second -old- one, with the DVI2VGA adapter.

When I plug in the second monitor, the first monitor blinks but after that the second monitor is still black.

Any suggestion?

I don't know what kext your using but my kext that has both monitors mirrored but stuck mirrored is ATY_INT or Ati HD

I got one of those from iAtkos v7 and the other from iDeneb.

But like I said I still have the mirroring problem!

Hi all

using 10.6.2 with evo kext i'm able to load up a Mirror display on DUAL monitors with the ATI 4870 1gb card, which has 1dvi, 1hdmi and 1vga.

booting up from a vga connected and dvi2vga connected both displays come on but they are mirrior'ed.

does anyone know how i can turn off mirror and have this expanded to use dual monitor support??

I'm also looking for a solution for this. My card was automatically recognized and working out of the box with SL and QE/CI. I even tried adding the hex to the boot.plist and even that doesn't seem to change anything. I've tried EVOenabler and that hex method above and even various kexts from previous versions of OS X. Nothing seems to change it from mirroring to extended display, but my card scores pretty decently in OGL Extensions Viewer tests. I'm out of ideas and on the verge of giving up.

Card: XFX Radeon HD 4870 XXX 1GB with dual DVI out ports connected to 2 DVI to VGA adapters then 2 CRTs.

using ati 4870 sapphire card with 1dvi, 1vga and 1hdmi

i updated to 10.6.3 and now for display connector it is blank...i can only VNC into the PC..

does anyone know how i can get the following three kext files from 10.6.2 ?

ATI4800Controller.kext

ATISupport.kext

ATIFramebuffer.kext

anyone able to PM it?

Same issue with vanilla 10.6.3 and updated to 10.6.5.

I have a ASUS EAH4870 which worked out of box with myhack 1.1. DVI monitor on one output and DVI2VGA adapter with VGA monitor on second. Showed mirrored screens during boot process but not upon loading desktop (VGA display would just power off).

Swapped outputs on card and now both displays are recognized with extended (dual) desktop.
