Kosmonator
Ati 4870 is working for me in SL with 2 Displays. First is DVI and second is VGA with adapter. Try to change DVI 1 with DVI 2 and use EvOenabler in s/l/e. Federico Lang
I'm having the same problem here... only mirrored displays and the system only detects one of them (the one plugged on DVI port) My specs: MSI Pro-E X58 i7 920 4 GBs RAM and the troublemaker: MSI R4870 1GB with one DVI, one VGA and one HDMI. Two monitors plugged, one via VGA, one via DVI (with DVI>VGA adapter) haven't tested HDMI since I just don't have anything to plug it to... Installed the card using "Simple guide to 48x0..." (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=155477) I get QE to work, but I can't get dual displays. I have tried several ways, but the only cards that seem t work are the ones with two DVI ports, mine is not like that... Any help, anyone?? I use a lot of Final Cut-AfterEffects-Color and i really need the dual display modes for all of those.. HEEEELLPPP!!!! and thanxs Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/193671-dual-display-with-ati-4870/#findComment-1345109 Share on other sites

madzije
I have the same problem. QE and CI DO work out of the box. Got Leopard 10.5.8 and 2 monitors, the first one (Samsung T200) plugged with DVI connector, the second -old- one, with the DVI2VGA adapter. When I plug in the second monitor, the first monitor blinks but after that the second monitor is still black. Any suggestion? SleepingPanda
I'm also looking for a solution for this. My card was automatically recognized and working out of the box with SL and QE/CI. I even tried adding the hex to the boot.plist and even that doesn't seem to change anything. I've tried EVOenabler and that hex method above and even various kexts from previous versions of OS X. Nothing seems to change it from mirroring to extended display, but my card scores pretty decently in OGL Extensions Viewer tests. I'm out of ideas and on the verge of giving up. Card: XFX Radeon HD 4870 XXX 1GB with dual DVI out ports connected to 2 DVI to VGA adapters then 2 CRTs. T13
Same problem here. Im guessing it has something to do with using a converter to go from DVI to VGA. Maybe HDCP??? haveblue
Same issue with vanilla 10.6.3 and updated to 10.6.5. I have a ASUS EAH4870 which worked out of box with myhack 1.1. DVI monitor on one output and DVI2VGA adapter with VGA monitor on second. Showed mirrored screens during boot process but not upon loading desktop (VGA display would just power off). Swapped outputs on card and now both displays are recognized with extended (dual) desktop.
