DeathByGuitar
So I have a Radeon HD 4850 512 Dual-slot, which apparently from what I've read has been wreaking havoc on all mankind. So far, the only thing I've been able to get it showing up in is 10.5.6, though only at 1024x768. Everything else in the system works fine. Has anyone been able to successfully get this card to work? I heard something about patching frame buffers or something like that or EFI strings (I don't actually know what I'm talking about),but I haven't read anything about people having any success. Any ideas? idsynk
Under 10.5.6 the ATI 4850 doesnt work!!! Minimum are the drivers from 10.5.7 with you can use with 10.5.6. Clean install 10.5.8 and ATY_Init as an injector will do the perfect job. maukku
I just replaced my broken dual-dvi 512mb 4850 with a Dvi/vga/hdmi 1Gb 4850 (Club3D). I currently have snow leopard, but it won't be a problem to roll back to leopard. I tried aty_init with snow, but all I get is some garbage in screen. I also tried all kinds of drivers from netkas site. Has anyone managed to get non-dualdvi cards working under any OS? Just tried a clean install of 10.5.8 with iDeneb 10.5.8 lite, but it kernel panics in the middle of the instalation, When I boot up and run the installer, it sits for about 10-15 minutes saying it's calculating the install time, then it kernel panics on me, saying something about the "get physicalsegment() out of 32 kb range class IOGeneralMemoryDescription" and "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: Directiory Services What distro did you use to get to 10.5.8, and what would you recommend? DeathByGuitar
Still haven't gotten any farther with this darn card. Has anyone confirmed if it's actually possible to do something with this card to get it working or should I go buy something else? geojjj
Just check netkas site, all info are there. Probably you'll need to connect your monitor to hdmi and to the other line-out (dvi) connect just an adapter dvi-dsub alone. that's the way I got it working.
