I have success instaled Snow Leopard with this method in my P5KPL-AM Asus Motherboard.

Everything seems work fine except Ethernet RTL8102E controller.

With Iatkos 10.5.8 working fine with R1000.kext.

I tried many kexts, driver package for reatlec site but without result :(

The only kext who seems recognize this card is dowloaded from packet here (205kb) but can't connect anywere

Thnks..

Hello,

I also have the P5KPL-AM, I have got the LAN to work by installing the file attached, but it only works in 32bit mode not 64bit.

Also what BIOS version are you on??

I updated to the latested and boy did it slow EVERYTHING down.

I'm on 0506 seems to work without any quarms.

Let me know!!

Cheers,

Rich

I have the same bios 506

Is there any way to work the r1000.kext in 32mode under 64bit Snow? (Like most windoze driver)

I tried with -32 argument but the en0 don't work.

Can you send me please your r1000.kext please?

Thnks in advance..

Hello Eski,

I have edited my earlier post for you with the working NIC controller. Not kext just a .pkg, to boot into 32bit mode use

arch=i386 on boot then add it to your com.apple.boot.plist, Also im told that the install methord using the OSinstall.pkg will eventually riddle your system with permision errors, so i opted for the USB methord with the paid copy of SL.

Let me know how you get on, Also PM ur email address for contact, MSN.

After install with OSinstall.mpkg method there are is two ways to fix the permissions

a. boot and run BSD.pkg from Retail image (the easy way)

b. boot from 10.5.x partiotion and give 3 commands

$ cd /Volumes/Snow/System/Library

$ sudo chown -R root:wheel Extensions

$ sudo kextcache -v 1 -t -m /Volumes/Snow/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /Volumes/Snow/System/Library/Extensions/

Boot from Snow Partition assingle user and giving the below commands

# mount -uw

# chown -R 0:0 /System/Library/Extensions

# kextcache -v -l -t -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext

/System/Library/Extensions/

Pemissions now it's ok

BTW finaly i was made a success installation with Totaly Vanilla method

my network card working with realtec 2.0.3 package but it all 32 bit

Tomorow i will try to change 64bit mode with below way

#diskutil list (to see where is hide partition EFI)

#mkdir /Volumes/EFI

#mount_hfs /dev/disk0s1 /Volumes/EFI

edit kernel <string>arch=i386<string> (32bit) to <srting><sting> (64bit)

#umount -f /Volumes/EFI

#rm -f /Volumes/EFI

i know what my ethernet card don't work but i have many RTL8139 and i believe they works in 64bit

Greetings from Athens Greece

Sorry for my bad english

Im on the same situation :wacko: RTL8102 with R1000.kext driver working on IDeneb 10.5.5 but can´t get it to work on Snow 10.6.0 or 10.6.3 so far.

With the R1000 driver it gives me green light on Ethernet and ISP on the networking settings. But i cant make it work.

Anyone knows a fix for this?
