BLARGiAMdEAD
So, I have had working Snow Leo on my Asus P6T board for a while now. I am running on a 24" monitor at 1920x1080. It works fine in OSX and Vista, but with the com.apple.boot.plist boot res fix, it runs stretched, with the apple out of proportion, and with a black border around the edges of the screen. Any ideas? Also, why is it that the apple it uses when booting is the silver "About This Mac" apple, rather than the normal one used on real macs? That got me the actual Mac booting apple, but it's still stretched and has those ugly borders, with <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1920x1080x32@60</string> Any ideas? BLARGiAMdEAD
Wouldn't it be 1920x1200x32@60 ? Nope. My monitor's native resolution is 1920x1080, and it is set to that in System Prefs and in Vista, and it has no weird black borders in either. Beerkex'd
You need to set your resolution in the theme plist file as well. Twice. BLARGiAMdEAD
I can't seem to find my actual Chameleon theme. It's supposed to be in /Extras/Themes/, right? Because I don't have any "Themes" folder. blackosx
OS X might happily use your 1920x1080 resolution with it's video drivers but Chameleon might not be able to. Chameleon will only display the bootloader screen at the VESA resolutions that it can read from your hardware. When you are at the device selection screen, press the down arrow and select the video modes option and see if your intended resolution is in the list. If not then you will have to enter a supported resolution from that list instead. Beerkex'd
Word. I don't have any "Themes" folder. The default theme is built in to Chameleon. If you want to make changes to it, go download a Chameleon binary release and copy the themes folder from there to your /Extra folder. And then you need to set Theme = Default (or whatever theme you want to use) in your com.apple.Boot.plist. Hobby203
So, I have had working Snow Leo on my Asus P6T board for a while now. I am running on a 24" monitor at 1920x1080. Hi, i have the exact same problem as you, 22" at 1920*1080 black border etc. UNFORTUNATELY this a limitation with the graphics card, something to do with VESA video modes in the vbios which means that before an OS or such like loads any drivers it can't power a resolution higher than whatever it's on at the moment, for me it's 1440*1050 There *is* a fix for this, sort of, but it involves hex-editing which should allow you to force it to use the native resolution, (read more here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=211294) On another note, the boot screen can be changed, if you have the chameleon/chimera prefpane installed you can tell it to use the 'legacy' boot image option, this changes it back to the nice matte apple, which imho is much better looking Hope all this helps --Hobby-- Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192443-chameleon-boot-screen-problems-purely-cosmetic/#findComment-1727180 Share on other sites
