Motherboard specs are below.

Doesn't matter what method I use (and I have tried ALL of them of this board), Snow Leopard will reboot before graphics mode using -v -f every single time. If I boot with Voodoo kernel I get a kernel panic and lockup.

This board doesn't have AHCI but I am running IPC 10.5.8 with no problem. I see on the Wiki page that someone has been able to install vanilla on it but they didn't link to the howto guide.

ANYBODY?!!??!? Why am I getting reboots no matter what method I use?

Black Hat Villain,

Have you tried setting On-Chip SATA Mode to 'Enhanced'? This settings sets all SATA devices to operate in SATA mode.

You will probably also need the use of AppleVIAATA.kext and/or LegacyJMB36xSATA.kext. BUT, the Southbridge is Intel based, so I doubt that you'll need it, but you will surely need AHCIPortInjector.kext and IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext.

Oh yeah, disable Onboard Serial Port 1 and Onboard Parallel Port.

Get back to me and let me know!

Peace,

IanT

Black Hat Villain,

How did you install SL? or How are you trying to install it? Boot-132 method or from a working Leopard install?

Also, there might be an issue using an IDE DVD drive... I'm not 100% sure, but it can definitely be an issue...

I don't use the Voodoo Kernel either, I use the Vanilla kernel...

Also, the wiki shows that it works with Vanilla kernel.. http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...10.6.0#Gigabyte

Peace,

BROOKLYN, NYC!

Also, just tried....same reboot with Vanilla, kernel panic with Voodoo ('invalid kernel ip'). This {censored} is killing me.

I'm using the flash drive method but would try another one (even though I have tried multiple times already). The kexts you recommended look like they would help, I also adjusted the bios settings. I'm a network guy and am not new to any of this, I'm just missing something basic....when overlooking something always ask for help.

Black Had Villain,

Gotcha gotcha... :D

Try this http://netkas.org/?paged=3, Intel ATA support for Snow Leopard.

Use that kext instead of the other two I had mentioned.

Sorry, I don't have the mobo, I'm just trying to help you out, by brainstorming... :)

Peace,

PS. I'm an Information Systems Engineer, and I specialize in Windows OS Deployment via SMS 2003 and OSDFP and SCCM OSD. Go figure, right?!?

Ack, another reboot....I just don't get how this is happening with everyone else seeing success on this. Anywho, thanks for your help, it just doesn't seem to want to cooperate. Hopefully someone will see this before I wake up with the solution to everything :)

Again, thanks for going out of your way, bro.
