kingdomofnone
Hi all. I recently installed a totally vanilla retail SL on my ASUS 1000HEB netbook following a guide here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=186596 After upgrading to 10.6.1, I lost support for USB mass storage devices on my system. I also noticed that if I plug in a USB keyboard, functions such as numlock don't appear to work on it, just basic keys work. What the strange part is, that the USB ports are recognized in my system profiler. This is a sample of one of the USB ports: USB Bus: Host Controller Location: Built-in USB Host Controller Driver: AppleUSBUHCI PCI Device ID: 0x27c8 PCI Revision ID: 0x0002 PCI Vendor ID: 0x8086 Bus Number: 0x1d If you need any other info (such as kexts installed) just ask. Any help is appreciated and thanks for reading. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192018-usb-not-working-after-retail-sl-install/ Share on other sites
froberg
I have to same problem. They show up in the system profiler but nothing happens when i plug something in. The weird think though, is that 2 of my USB works just fine, but the other 2 are just dead. I'm running 10.6 on a HP dv6, ICH9 chipset. stooovie
Bump. Ports are listed, though no devices in Profiler. Optical sensor on mouse doesn't light up. stooovie
Oh I'm sorry, I forgot to post a solution. In my case, all I got to do was to delete AppleHPET.kext. No harm done, and all works now. Please tell us if it helped you too. joe31093
I removed AppleHPET.kext and no change. The wireless USB keyboard / mouse works when I boot the system. If I connect a USB flash drive or USB hard drive, they do not show up / mount even when I reboot the system. When the system is running, if I disconnect the wireless USB keyboard / mouse and reconnect it, it doesn't work. Connecting any USB device to the system after boot does not work I am runnin Hazard 10.6.2 in 64bit mode on an Intel DQ45CB. stooovie
I am running retail vanilla SL. I´m not familiar with Hazard distro. Any special patches or kexts on install? joe31093
It seems that I have to disable legacy usb support in the BIOS to get the usb devices to work in OS X. Now the problem is that my usb keyboard doesn't work and I can use the keyboard to select which OS I want to boot. Is there a fix for this?
