NeSuKuN Posted June 5, 2006 Share Posted June 5, 2006 I've installed perfectly this DVD into my PC (P4) but when I try to install into my GF's PC (an AMD64 with SSE3) It gives me an error while installing, so I thought I was choosing the wrong patchset, which ones do I have to choose? mgoddard Posted June 5, 2006 Share Posted June 5, 2006 Can you tell us what kind of error you're getting? When I installed it on my AMD system I installed the two 'decrypts' packages (the first package on the list and then the other specifically for AMD; I forget exactly what they're called or what they even do) and the AMD SSE3 patch. Make sure you don't install both the SSE3 and SSE2 patches, and if SSE3 is giving you problems then try only SSE2. mgoddard Posted June 6, 2006 Share Posted June 6, 2006 This sounds like the problem I was having. Does it always stop around the same point of the installation? Are you trying to install this on a laptop? You can try burning the install disc again at a slower speed, and if possible try swapping in a different DVD drive. If neither of those work and the install crashes at the same point repeatedly, you might have to do what I did and use VMware to complete the installation. If you end up having to use VMware, you'll need Daemon Tools to mount the install disc ISO and map it to a virtual drive. You can not use VMware to assign the virtual machine's DVD drive directly to the image. Then just set the VM's settings so that it uses the partition or drive you're trying to install to instead of a disk image file. And btw, it seems you have all the necessary patches checked so if all or most of your hardware is supported then it should run fine once installed. NeSuKuN Posted June 9, 2006 Author Share Posted June 9, 2006 Just the same that happens while installing outside of vmware, suddenly while installing, the installation stops, and the installer shows an error telling you to to try installing again. mgoddard Posted June 10, 2006 Share Posted June 10, 2006 That's weird. The only things you need to do when installing through VMware is make sure you mount the ISO image using Daemon Tools. If you just put the disc in your DVD drive then you're going to have the same problems when trying to install from the disc. You also cannot use VMware to mount the ISO image as there's some kind of problem with VMware disc emulation or something. You also need to change the hard disk settings to Independant and Persistent under the Advanced settings for that Virtual Machine. Make sure you've got it set up just like that and it should work out.
