acco
I got my new ring, that you can see in my signature, and i'm trying to create my hackintosh but with no luck. So i've strated followig the 'lifehacker' guide, changing the extra folder to match my motherboard. I've plugged my usb key, set the bios and power up, the Chamaleon shows up and i choose the name of the usb key "HackintoshInstall", the monitor shows the apple logo and under it the gray spinning icon. After some secs the monitor blicks one sec and after that goes in stand by mode.... So i've thougth that the problem was my video card that should be setted in efi string. I've tried to use "EFIStudio" and "osx86tool" reading some thread to setup the GTX 285 but with no results! Can some one tells me how to setup an usb key to boot up SL with my hardware config?!? Any suggestions, answers and so on will be very appreciated! Thanks Ok now i'm totally sure that the problem is related to the video card, cause i've just plugged in my old GeForce 7800GTX and the boot process had passed the first page (with gray spinning icon) and it's arrived to the language selector page! So what i should do to correctly use my GTX 285?!? ok, now i'm totally sure that the problem is related to video card cause i've just tried to plug in my old Geforce 7800gtx and the boot process has arrived to the language selector page!! So what i've to do to fix this problem and have my GTX 285 fully works as aspetted?!? ---------------------- EDIT ------------------------------ ok, now i'm totally sure that the problem is related to video card cause i've just tried to plug in my old Geforce 7800gtx and the boot process has arrived to the language selector page!! Ichixgo
install sl with your old graphics plugged in. afterwards edit the dsdt used by lifehacker to match your new graphics. then overwrite the old one. shut down. change graphics. reboot. should work fine. if you have any questions but editing dsdt just ask. Ichixgo
of course there is but if you have no running os x its a pain in the ass to edit the dsdt ^^so if you have an already working graphics just use this one to set the os up and afterwards make a gtx 2xx dsdt ^^ then you can exchange this with the one on your install partition and you will be able to install using your gtx from then on ^^ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189937-help-im-totally-confused-i-dont-understand-what-im-doing-wrong-gtx-285-problem/#findComment-1287466 Share on other sites

Put that in my com.apple.Boot.plist (having backed it up of course) and rebooted - voila, recognised as a GTX260 with 896MB Ram Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189937-help-im-totally-confused-i-dont-understand-what-im-doing-wrong-gtx-285-problem/#findComment-1287483 Share on other sites
Darth Lemsip
ah ok, thanks for your reply.Do you know if a Geforce 8600 could run the installation process without problem like the gtx 285? Cause the old 7800 card is plugged in another pc and i would like avoiding to open, unplug the card and so on I think that one is fine, yes Or, of course, just do what I did and use the EFI strings for a 9800GTX while installing, then change them afterwards Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189937-help-im-totally-confused-i-dont-understand-what-im-doing-wrong-gtx-285-problem/#findComment-1287489 Share on other sites

Ichixgo
hm i thought your problem was that you had no os x running so you couldnt change the boot file or the dsdt ; ) so if you want you can also use your other card to install ^^ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189937-help-im-totally-confused-i-dont-understand-what-im-doing-wrong-gtx-285-problem/#findComment-1287623 Share on other sites
