bossent20
Hi everyone i am on a core i7 system. using ex58-ud5 m/b using iatkos v7 when i install it; even though its fantastic after install, it freezes during the apple logo screen after doing the live software update to 10.5.8 can anyone help on this please? i think the mickey mouse giude explains that this does happen after a 10.5.8 update, however by reinstalling 'Remove TyMCE' fixes this. in my case, i tried installing it again upon restart before loading up 10.5.8 as i knew it would freeze again. but when installing it it said failed. and still when trying to boot, it froze anyway can anyone relate on this please. it seems none of my posts or topic have any importance here please! many thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/188668-please-please-little-help-on-corei7ud5/ Share on other sites
vilpostus
Do not use software update unless you use this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=127330&hl= or this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114013 method. Use patched updates such as http://gu1337.com/mac-apps/256135-osx86-id...t-10-5-8-a.html Software Updates replaces some most important System components, so it become unbootlable. Therefore a pre-patched updates are needed. This updates are modified to be safe to use. vilpostus
Whatever you may or may not use the Software update, depends on how you have installed the OS X. If you use Chameleon and putt all the additional kexts needed to /Extra folder and use the vanilla kernel, then the Software Update (I mean System version update - not the Applications and System components updates) may work. That was your case. Now in case you use an "old school" install method e.g. putt all the additional kexts needed to /System/Library/Extensions and replace some of them and remove some incompatible, plus not the "vanilla kernel". Then you need some pre-patched Update. bossent20
thanks for reply to help you know what i did.... here is how i went trough the install just like the iatkos v7 install guide on this forum... select the following: atkos v7 main system chameleon v2 xtra dir dsdt dsmos 9.7 kernel (however they now updated that vanilla works fine) apic driver disabler ohr remove tymce ahci intel sata/ide jmicron sata/ide voodoo hda driver (i do not select this since i am using an external sound card) realtek r1000 post install action and that's it the OS loads fine and i use the system as normal. everything works perfectly. including USB, external drives, sounds, restart. etc... then when i update using software update from the apple menu, it all installs and restarts, but upon restart it reboots system during apple logo screen and once back into apple logo screen it crashes when the black circle is loading any ideas? thank you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/188668-please-please-little-help-on-corei7ud5/#findComment-1286537 Share on other sites
vilpostus
Use -v flag to see boot messages. Also check what is placed in /Extra folder (use windows or OS X install disk to view this). bossent20
i know it's stupid to mention this now, but i am a very simple user when it comes to installing OSX86 using a mac is not a problem, but i am a little puzzled with installs and dont know what to look for when i use '-v' i type cpus=1 busratio=20 as instructed i use to do it with '-v' before it and i recall some errors about firewire. whatever that means, i don't know, as my firewire always worked fine after install after typing '-v' and waiting for all that text to complete, it goes to the install screen as normal - so i really do not know what to point out from that screen in time unfortunately i am not familiar with installing kexts and stuff either sorry if i sound so naive but i am learning regarding the extra folder, i cannot find it in my directory folders. should it be placed on the MAC HD? i cannot find it anywhere and do not understand how to find this using a Windows or OSX install disc as you say thanks for the help again appreciate any further input you can give just to add: my spec is... gigabyte ex58-ud5 core i7 920 6gb corsair dominator and i have Windows and MAC OSX on two seperate HARD DRIVES could you let me know what i should be choosing from the iatkos v7 install disc? and are there any other simple all-in-one install DVDs to use other than doing all those kekts terminal loading stuff thanks PS - it would be great to have snow leopard working. i have an original snow leopard disc, but no knowledge of those text commands, or kekts or anything about terminal do you know of any good simple way i can install snow leopard, or if there is a snow leopard install dvd for pc's? thank you again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/188668-please-please-little-help-on-corei7ud5/#findComment-1286728 Share on other sites

bossent20
thank you but i have been to these posts before and from the loks of things it seems i need to add loads of scripts and those EFI boot methods, whatever that is when i had my core 2 duo rig, i had the iPC install DVD for leopard, which had all the drivers on the install disc simple boot of the disc and away you go the links you provided seem very confusing and unfortunately like i said i do not have any understanding of adding scripts and loading kexts or anything am i mistaken though? are these guides simple to follow? bare in mind i am using a single hard drive for my MAC install. i do not have partitions or wish to use partitions. i just want my OS on its own HD thanks ok i double checked those topics and i remember now why i chose not to go that route simply because you need two drives (one with OSX installed) or a MAC itself i have neither of these i only have two drives. one for windows and one for my MAC which i wish to install on Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/188668-please-please-little-help-on-corei7ud5/#findComment-1286826 Share on other sites
vilpostus
I see. The guides are usually written by a usual people for usual people (not by some crazy scientists to their colleagues )so should be a reasonably easy to understand. Not in the first glance maybe, but after a through study you should get it. Remember, that OS X is designed to run on Macs only (not on a PC of any kind!), so running it on a PC is a bit complicated experience (more or less). It is not the Windows, which is meant to run on almost any PC. So OS X installation has a different scenario then Windows does. It assumes some prior knowledge of the subject. To get the idea pleas read these guides: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=184367 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=188371 Note that you under any circumstances mustn't do the BIOS patching with the files provided in the guides, unless you have same MB as the guide describes. bossent20
according to that iatkos v7 guide, the software update should work after installing the OS i have been using the OS just fine so far i think i once had it working, but cannot remember how not sure if i changed some settings in the bios after the 10.5.8 update or before either way i should be able to update via the net using software update but when doing so causes a restart on the apply logo screen then second time in that screen it crashes any thoughts on this please? thank you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/188668-please-please-little-help-on-corei7ud5/#findComment-1304595 Share on other sites
