Help! My wonderful dual booting SL/Win7 machine has just lost the Win7 drive! I didn't even do anything! Last night it was working fine, then I restarted (I use Cham 2 RC3) and booted back into SL. This morning I wanted to get back into Win, and after restart, the BIOS doesn't list the Win7 drive during the AHCI post screen at all! Nothing there! All other drives are still here. And SL continues to boot fine, just Chameleon no longer gives me the option to switch to win. What the hell, nothing physically happened to the HD, nothing crashed, just a routine system restart. Could the HD be fried? Can't even use an HD utility from my emergency bootcd, since the bugger doesn't report its existance to the bios. I've tried swapping SATA ports around with working HDs, and the problem persists. Would mybe resetting the CMOS help? Haven't done that yet... next on my list. I know this isnt a particular hackintosh problem, but I know there's alotta tech savvy folk here and maybe someone has an idea.

thanks.

check power to HDD

try a new sata and power leads as well as different sata ports. A slightly loose sata or power cable can be problematic, try to use high quality connecters that 'latch' in

cover all possibilities

Alright, I've reset the CMOS, replugged cables, tried other SATA ports... nothing. After googling my drive, A Seagate ST3500AS Barracuda 7200.11, I've come to the conclusion that seagate stinks, and my data is gone. It seems common enough that they just fail, just like that, after 8 months. poo on them.
