1. Here's mine, although it's not quite working with full res/openGL yet: GeForce GTX 560 Ti-448 1280MB NVc8 [10de:1087]-[19da:2207] :: PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0) device number: 1 dcb table at offset 0x4fa3 GeForce GTX 560 Ti-448: Chipset Model: GeForce GTX 560 Ti-448 Type: GPU Bus: PCIe Slot: Slot-1 PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 1280 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x1087 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: Displays: Display: Resolution: 1280 x 1024 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes If anyone can tell me how I can get full resolution (1920x1080) and full openGL etc I would be very happy . Already did Netkas' openCL hexedit patching, using graphicsenabler=yes
2. Geforce GTX 560 Ti 448 on Lion

My 560TI 448 is driving me bonkers. I have it attached to a 1920x1080 monitor via HDMI, and the only resolution I have available is 1280x1024. Using Enoch v1975 (Nvidia-enabling branch of chameleon), graphicsenabler=yes, did Netkas' 2 hexedits of GeForceGLDriver, under 10.7.4. I don't think openGL is working though, as TF2 refuses to run (no drivers reported), and openGLextensionsviewer only reports a software renderer. About this Mac --> GeForce GTX 560 Ti-448: Chipset Model: GeForce GTX 560 Ti-448 Type: GPU Bus: PCIe Slot: Slot-1 PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 1280 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x1087 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: Displays: Display: Resolution: 1280 x 1024 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes That would look like its working, but its not.... anyone have any ideas?? EDIT: I just connected my old DVI 1680x1050 monitor, and I still get only 1280x1024 with 'detect displays' not doing anything. So I don't think HDMI is the issue here, just some sort of failure to completely recognize & make use of the video card. EDIT2: Wow! I replaced enoch with vanilla chameleon (probably has nothing to do with it) and ran ####### Nvidia 5XX support enabler, which in addition to Netkas' openCL fixes has some other fixes (System/Library/Extensions/NVDAGF100Hal.kext/Contents/Info.plist is patched using MacMan's research.) I now have full 1080p over HDMI!! Yay. Problem with Overscan now, as the desktop is somehow bigger than the screen with overscanning checked, when unchecked it's a bit smaller than the screen. Still, big, big, progress
3. ASUS N61Vn SL Install... with triple boot!

Just thought I'd update.... I just did a complete reinstall. This time using Nawcom's BootCD ver 3.1 which allows installation from Vanilla SL DVD onto MBR partition. Triple booting SL, WIn7 & Ubuntu!! But still not perfect. 1. Nawcom Boot CD -> SL Disk Utility on retail disk --> partition drive into 3 parts (for triple boot). Make Mac partition HFS+, the other 2 FAT32. I put mac partition first, then windoze, then Ubuntu. Not sure if it matters. 2. Install SL onto HFS+ partition. Didn't bother customiozing Nawcoms install features. 3. Have 10.6.5 combo update on USB stick. Run it as soon as install is finished. 4. Install #####. Google it. Check #####! 5. Reboot. Et voila!! OSX works... at least superficially. graphics and ethernet are ok. sound & wireless not so, but thats a different story 6. Installed Win7 on 2nd partition, format to NTFS while at it. No probs here. 7. Install EasyBCD. Set up Windows & Mac partitions 8. Install Ubunto 10.10 to 3rd partition, in installer subdivide last partition into ext4 partition for the system and 4 gb swap partition. Make sure to install the Ubuntu grub bootloader onto the Ubuntu partition, or it will mess with EasyBCD. 9. Reboot into Windows, add Ubuntu partition to EasyBCD. And there you go, triple boot. Still fiddling with VoodooHDA and whatnot for sound, and the Atheros9825 just seems screwed as far as n wifi goes, b/g works ok. well... once I get it sorted. sorry about the non techy stuff, I'm just happy I got it this far. cheers ,
4. SO. Just got my new notebook. specs that I'm aware of: 7450 Core2Duo Intel 240M Nvidia 1024 mb Atheros 9825 Wireless ??????? Sound (662? 663? help!!) Installed 10.6.3 retail after using latest empire EFI to boot up. System booted from HD right away, but gphx were shoddy 1024x768 and not accellerated. Installed nawcoms latest MyHack 1.1.4 and gphx work smooth! Ethernet works, the only things I cant get pumpin are wifi and sound. Tried VoodooHDA but no go, might I have to edit the .kext in some way? Also, gonna try a dsdt hack to get the Atheros wifi to work, someone posted something somewhere around here saying it would work. Pardon my nonspecificity. Anyaway. If anyone can tell me what sound codec this notebook has I would be very grateful... and more infos regarding functional Atheros 9825s would be kewl also. still. so far this notebook seems like a very nice hackintosh platform indeed! Dual booting Windows 7 also! wheeeee
5. This is in response to luguduwebs technique, above: It worked!! Thanks!! After some putzing about, I got Win 7 and 10.6.4 both goin. Installed SL using myHack (nawcoms 1.1.4 modified version) and fixed the MBR not with Macrium (30 bucks, yea right) but with a simple Win7 repair CD (the one from MS themselves.) Its not perfect yet, but that has more to do with absence of dsdt and stuff like that. Dual boot ahoy! this is on an ASUS N61Vn for what its worth. 500 GB HD, 350 GB OSX partition 150 GB for Win
6. thanks again for your excellent effort at steering our ships through this ambiguous storm, blackosx! Just a minor comment... question. I recently updated my system to 10.6.2, and added the most recent updates to E/E on my Chameleon partition, like EvOreboot and the new fakesmc. Redid dsdt with the proper pin configs for functional sound out, all seems well in hackintoshworld. One minor problem remains ... my bittorrent client (transmission) is no longer able to open whichever port it wants (it says NAT traversal uses either NAT-PMP or UPnP). Ethernet as such works fine, but I have a feeling this might be related to Bonjour not quite working correctly. I'm still using that brute-force Bonjour script at startup, but something about it just isn't working. Other macs on the network can't connect to me, and now, I can't open ports on the router. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? The router ports were being opened btw before I did the 10.6.1-->10.6.2 upgrade. SOrry to be so vague... but maybe soeone has an idea. Possibly a better Bonjour fix that I've overlooked?? thanks!! m
7. Alright, I've reset the CMOS, replugged cables, tried other SATA ports... nothing. After googling my drive, A Seagate ST3500AS Barracuda 7200.11, I've come to the conclusion that seagate stinks, and my data is gone. It seems common enough that they just fail, just like that, after 8 months. poo on them.
8. Help! My wonderful dual booting SL/Win7 machine has just lost the Win7 drive! I didn't even do anything! Last night it was working fine, then I restarted (I use Cham 2 RC3) and booted back into SL. This morning I wanted to get back into Win, and after restart, the BIOS doesn't list the Win7 drive during the AHCI post screen at all! Nothing there! All other drives are still here. And SL continues to boot fine, just Chameleon no longer gives me the option to switch to win. What the hell, nothing physically happened to the HD, nothing crashed, just a routine system restart. Could the HD be fried? Can't even use an HD utility from my emergency bootcd, since the bugger doesn't report its existance to the bios. I've tried swapping SATA ports around with working HDs, and the problem persists. Would mybe resetting the CMOS help? Haven't done that yet... next on my list. I know this isnt a particular hackintosh problem, but I know there's alotta tech savvy folk here and maybe someone has an idea. thanks.
9. SL Running on Gigabyte EP45DQ6

alright, I'm running 10.6 on my EP45-DQ6. Mostly working, sound isnt doing much so far but otherwise stable once running. Once running because it panics when booting if I dont specify -x32. But then it looks like it loads 64 bit kernel anyway. If I don't specify -x32 it panics while on fsck_hfs. I followed Blackosxs guide for (i think the ep45-UD3R or somesuch.. similar board) SL install from a USB stick, after using his guide on making my dsdt.aml based on the F12 BIOS dled from gigabyte. Only thing I didnt do is add sound to my dsdt. maybe a mistake? Used all blackosxs .kexts etc. Works fine, really, system info doesnt display whether QE/CI etc is working but the feel is very snappy so I think some form of video accel is functional. Not perfect, but definately gettin there. good luck... m
10. well waddaya know, it works!! Just follow Blackosx'd guide and my SL runs real nice. I had one more KP after first boot, but now its been going 30 mins or so no problem. Had to boot in -x64 to get it working, was panicking because of fsck at boot. Woot! Now to get sound working...
11. [Guide] Using DSDT with the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L

thanks for the quick reply, so I think I got it correct but since memory doesn't always serve I'm redoing the entire thing. another random question. When doing the cmos reset patch, some guides show the 0x04 changed to a 0x02 in 2 places (right next to eachother) and others only in the upper location. Are both changes neccessary? And the ep45-dq6 has 4 ethernet connectors, supposedly one can link them together to get increased speeds, but one has always worked fine under leopard. anyway, doing it all again using your guide, kexts etc. will report back later.
12. [Guide] Using DSDT with the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L

I'm a bit confused over PEX/PCI values and where to obtain them My ethernet I set to PEX0 .. could this be?? my graphics I set to PCI0 ... but unsure. Is it PCI 1 ?? please help me get my dsdt straightened out.. thanks.
13. Guys.. I'm bugging. Leopard was never as finicky as SL. I've been reading all I can and thought this should work. Mostly following Unixman84s guide for the UD3P, but should be similar. Also read blackosxs guides on SL and dsdt, among many others. you know. Used boot.plist & smbios & kexts from Unixman, but is there a difference here? I'm never too sure which values aside from UUID actually matter in smbios. boot.plist has correct res, uuid & i386 flags. -made a dsdt.aml using koalalas dsdt patcher for windows. Followed a guide from here (somewhere), first extracted from the F12 bios file I'd DLed from the GA site, then patched. I checked just about all options. Fixed cmos bug. Recompiled & saved back to mac desktop. - Formatted 8 gb Sandisk USB stick GUID - Installed chameleon 2 rc1 432 on USB stick - showed invisibles, deleted boot file on stick, replaced with netkas' SL boot - restored SL disk image onto stick using disk util, did not erase destination - copied fakesmc, IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector, NullCPUPowerManagement, OpenHaltRestart, PlatformUUID and SleepEnabler kexts into Extra/Extensions on stick - copied my freshly cooked dsdt.aml into first /extra then also tried root of stick -Looked up stick UUID in Disk Util, pasted it into /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist, /Extra/smbios.plist and /Extra/Extensions/PlatformUUID.kext -Also removed Gphx&network EFI strings from Boot.plist as this stuff should work by way of dsdt. Sadly unable (unwiling) to try dsdt on my 10.5.7 install because I'm afraid of breaking it and not being able to boot anything. ------------- this all to just make the USB install. Now I'm a bit confused over whether its possible to set up the final SL partition from the old leopard install (I'm still on 10.5.7) ... i.e. formatting GUID, installing chameleon, copying boot file, dsdt and extensions and corrercting UUIDs and then just installing SL ontop or whether one *must* format only from within the 10.6 install environment, install SL first, and then (somehow, from terminal?) make the neccessary mods. ----- but I never get that far, because my stick panics usually before I even get to the install screen. when I boot with -v -x32 (or -x64, tried em all) it panics shortly after loading the kernel. when I add -f it loads all its kexts apparently, and the installer appears. I tried unchecking everything but basic install, leaving checks as is, everything. Install goes usually about 30 sec, then kernel panic. I've had the responsible processes be Installer, windowserver and fsck_hfs. what the heck am I doing wrong here... I unplugged all other HDs but the one I'm trying to install on. It a western digital 1 tb drive, I read somewhere that some WD drives dont like SL, maybe thats it? I also mistakenly named my install stick "Untitled 1" -- would such a name be a problem? after several attempts I used Mkext tool to rebuild an Extensions.mkext based on E/E/ and stuck that in E/. no difference. sooo..... anyone able to help with making a working USB installer? And anyone know how to overcome panicky installers? appreciated, me
14. Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6

yep I'm wanting to do the SL transition myself, but not finding the time for the serious experimentation I foresee coming up. Does the DQ6 have a better thread somewhere? There must be a few of these around running hackinsOSX.
15. how to check my spec?

running smoothly with gigabyte ga-ep45-DQ6 motherboard, q9550 intel processor and nvidia 9800gtx+ graphics. stick to intel processors and chipsets & get an Nvidia card. YOu should be fine. Gigabyte & Asus seem to be the best motherboards...
