SUGGESTIONS/COMMENTS...or a simple thumbs up would be great. This is a leap of faith for me!

Looks like a nice build and should be smoking fast.

Mobo shows up on the wiki and appears to be retail install compatible.

Video card also appears to be compatible. Probably just need to add an EFI string.

Though, why 2 media card readers?

You installing Leopard or Snow Leopard?

Sorry I fixed that. Thanks for the reply/support. Do you think my Power Supply is good to go? What about the graphic card....i was debating if that's the best for my money or not.

I was thinking this would be a safer/better build than the p55/i7 option. what do you think? I would like to do Snow, not sure how easy/hard this may be.

Also...the scythe mugen worries me...i don't know if i'll have enough space for it in my case...

Corsair makes great power supplies. Since you picked out a modular one, it should help you keep the wiring in your case neat and tidy. Help with airflow and overall manageability.

Speaking of which, which case are you using? I don't see one listed on your parts list.

I can't say about the video card. I know you shouldn't have much trouble getting it working, but beyond that, I am unsure how good a value it is. Looks to be ok to me, though.

I am assuming gaming is important to you?

If you have to ask if a p55 build is a good idea, you don't know enough to go with a p55 build currently. If what I'm reading in those threads is correct. It's never a good idea to try and go with a new hardware architecture for a hackintosh build until Apple's gotten it's products based on that hardware + 3-6 months for people to figure out what works.

The x58 builds seem to be one of the best bets. Especially if you want a powerful machine for not a lot of money.

I certainly hope your MB works well, it's the one I'm using, though my first one was DOA.

did you get osx running on it though? as far as case is concerned....i have an nzxt lexa s case. i'm not trying to use this computer for gaming really, more for After Effects CS4 and Final Cut Pro.

i'm a video editor by day and want a machine that can let me design side work at home for fun really. the xbox 360 is for gaming. =)

I wasn't even able to get it to the post/bios screens. Like I said it was Dead on Arrival. It seems to be a popular board for builds though and there's a number of set up routines specifically for it.

Personally, I'd be leery of depending on a hackintosh for my job, but it can be done. Having a backup HD you can clone your config to is something I'd highly recomend. So that if your primary HD/config goes south for some reason, you can just swap the drives and continue on. This is probably especially important when you are trying to install an update.

If you're doing video editing though, you might want to max out the ram and go with a more powerful graphics card. You can never have enough ram for video editing and with Snow Leopard being able to leverage your graphics card power for other tasks like transcoding video, it probably pays to go with the most powerful one you can get.
