vilpostus
Use an older distro as the system is relatively old. e.g. kalyway 10.5.1/10.5.2 May also try booting with a different kernel e.g. toh.

vilpostus
...can I use the software update to update it to a higher version?NO, YOU CAN'T!!! AMD=no software update. It will break the system. Software updates are only possible on system with the vanilla kernel. Vanilla kernel is incompatible with any AMD processor. Therefore NEVER USE THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WITH IT. You may try iDeneb Combo update 10.5.8 or iDeneb Combo Update 10.5.6. moltar
das_human, thx for all your patience on this. Your hunch was right, it caused kernel panic. Is there any known driver for AGP radeon for 10.5.2? I can't seem to find anything on this.
