msingh
Installed SL on a SATA hard disk using a convertor cable using my Macbook. Then installed Chameleon2 RC3 and added four kexts for SL in /Extra, symlinked into /System/Library/Extensions. These kexts are taken from: Retail SL install Then I found a dsdt.aml for Dell D830 from someone on insanelymac and placed it in /Extra and in /. I tried booting with -v -f -x and -v -f -PLATFORM=X86. What am I missing ? MacProUser83
the dsdt.aml file is incompatible with your sistem. Install leopard and generate your own. Or remove the current dsdt.aml file boot into SL and generate it within SL Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/187081-unable-to-find-driver-for-this-platform-~acpi~/#findComment-1269471 Share on other sites
raykreisel
To boot Chameleon2 RC3 in 32 bit mode you should try the following boot args -v -x32 arch=i386 -legacy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/187081-unable-to-find-driver-for-this-platform-~acpi~/#findComment-1269499 Share on other sites

Or remove the current dsdt.aml file boot into SL and generate it within SL Ok. I will bite. By install Leopard, you mean install a version of Leopard older than 10.5.6, don't you ? IIRC, this entire DSDT business started with that version. Followup question - why not just fix the BIOS somehow ? Isn't that where the problem is ? I am using the latest version of the BIOS (A14) for this system. Are there any good alternatives for a good open source strict compliance BIOS'es ? I have graphics working (full QE/CI if system profiler is right) without any extra kexts. Here is a guide for a partially working system: Minimalist retail Snow Leopard install on Dell D830 Installed SL on a SATA hard disk using a convertor cable using my Macbook. Then installed Chameleon2 RC3 and added four kexts for SL in /Extra, symlinked into /System/Library/Extensions. Please see the linked guide in my penultimate post on this thread.
