retroz
GPU Artifacts....? Anyone heard of this problem? macprodan
This could be poor thermal paste and contact between GPU and the heatsink. but i do think there are some flaws in the new macbooks. Apple wont get a Penny of my money until i start hearing of how Superb the build quality is... seems like they rushed these books out and didnt test them enough. Severnya
I think the quaity is as good as the ibook. Mine gets warm (CPU reckons 64degrees C) but thats it. Remember - they are covered for a minimum of 1 year. If the CPU melts - take it back I wouldnt hessitate to reckomend them. BRP
Same here, except I got the 1.83GHz MacBook. It gets pretty warm, but not as hot as my Pentium 4 VAIO. I leave this sucker on the bed and I don't get any adverse effects (except reduced overall battery life?). Not that you're supposed to leave these suckers on nice down comforters in the onset of summer, but hey. retroz
So I take it the $400 price bump for black wasn't worth it! I know Mac users say, no no no it's $150, but it's not really. Mark the white up ridicuuuuuuuulas to 1299 for 20GB and 2.0, then that leaves you right at the black price point, almost, then for $1499 but almost there to the MBP. :0 I'm still deciding whether black is worth it or go white, buy a 7200 RPM drive, 2 sticks of 1GB DDR and still come in lower than the Black. The only thing I really like about the black is the illusion of the screen appearing larger due to black vs white on the sides. I wonder if black tape or spray paint BLACK, would be possible! I mean a black with white keyboard would be cool! Easyier to see at night. No dedicated GPU though which should be an option for black! BRP
I think the MacBook shouldn't have dedicated graphics. It makes the clear difference between the two lines! You could easily paint all the plastic black if you were careful and skilled enough. You wouldn't be able to change the keys to black very easily... but you could just coat them evenly with glow powder and look pretty smart when the lights go out! warmcola
well i cant imagine the macbook beating some of the notebook heat horrors i've seen. e.g. i had a guy ask me to take a look at his slimline compaq evo about 2 years ago. the thing had charred nylon all over the bottom of it where it had caught his carpet on fire. i opened it up and there was about an ounce of thermal paste applied a little too liberally to the processor and the normally green motherboard had a ring of black burn marks around the processor Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18679-anyone-heard-of-macbook-gpu-artifacts/#findComment-126154 Share on other sites
