I have been using my Thinkpad for a couple years now and love the TrackPoint mouse. My friends that use my Thinkpad find the TrackPoint hard to use. Others like the TouchPad and while others hate both and prefer to use an external mouse. I'm curious as to what gets used more and your comments on the UltraNav system likes and dislikes.

I love the TrackPoint mainly for the fact that you don't have to move your wrist at all, so no carpal tunnel syndrome, something that I get from a standard mouse and the TouchPad. I also like the placement of the TrackPoint no need to move to go from typing to the mouse. I just wish I could get OSX to see the middle mouse button as a scroll not a left button, FireFox uses it as a scroll.

I have never like TouchPads and I have mine disabled in the BIOS but unfortunately that's all Apple uses, so i will have to get use to it when I buy my MacBook Pro :P

i have the thinkpad r40 and i loved the trackpoint while i used windows but i got rid of windows because i have a small hard drive. I'm running 10.4.6 and it hasn't worked ever in os x for except when booting from the install disc. If you know of some drivers or something that can get the trackpoint working, would u please point me in that direction?

I use the trackpoing in osx and xp, liek you said no wrist movements and with trackpads you're always going to the edge, not so with trackpoint. took maybe 2 days to get a hang of on my t42.

dantheman6690> had the same problem, had to fix appleps2controller.kext, the permissions and i think i used a 10.4.3 kext for it.

I'm not really a thinkpad user: my first laptop was a Thinkpad, a few years ago. Back then I love the track point: was easy to use, no wrist movements, everything handly. After that I switch to dell. Eventually I get the feeling for the touchpad. A couple of monhts ago, my Inspiron 5100 die with honors. I get a Dell D820 and Oh surprise! this little monster has both! A track point and a touch pad! Awesome! Now, I use boths. I still love the track point, but years using touchpad make the switch harder... I suppose in time I will forget the touchpad...

So, this poll should cover the dell's users too.

Regards.

This poll was for Thinkpad owners but as Jason Dax pointed out that other manufactures use the TrackPoint system, so I open this poll to all laptop owners.

I can't change the ? for the poll but it should be "What type of mouse do you use on your laptop"
