digicide
I asked this in the wrong forum a few days ago... no replies, he he... Using bootcamp on my shiny new macbook, the audio in XP is quite tinny and lame compared to audio in OS X. I think it sounds okay with headphones. Does everybody have this problem or should I try reinstalling windows or something? Colonel
You don't have to reinstall anything. It's just that all Apple notebooks have terrible speakers. Get used to it. digicide
Thanks for the reply and all, but my post says it sounds tinny 'compared to OS X'. The speakers sound great in OS X, so I really don't think that's the problem.... pauljcg
In XP, try going to the Control Panel, then to Sounds and Audio Devices (switch to classic view if you can't find the option). Click the Advanced... button in Speaker settings. Here you can select what type of speakers you are using. Try selecting Laptop stereo speakers. I'm not sure what this is supposed to do, but I guess Microsoft put it there for a reason, so perhaps it will add some bass to the sound? Can't hear a difference myself, but I've been told there's a difference between AAC and uncompressed CDs but I can't hear it! digicide
I'm with you paul, I can't hear the difference... still some pretty bad audio after fiddling around with that control panel. I guess I'm just wondering now if anybody with a macbook nonpro gets good sounding audio in xp. if yes I guess I'll try reinstalling it.
