Can anyone please let me know how to configure this card. I have a Viewsonic TFT with both DVI and VGA inputs. I inserted the ADD2 card into my Intel D915GEVL motherboard and connected the DVI cable to the monitor, however with this setup I did not get any Video signal at all.

I swapped the cable back to VGA and now I get a picture!!!!!

When the ADD2 card is inserted there are multi-monitor options in the display properties but I am unable to use it with just DVI which is what I bought it for.

Any help is appreciated, by the way the card I have is the HP branded one with a SFF retention bracket. It has the Silicon Image chipset and it is an ADD2-R Reverse spec, is this relevant?

Thanks.

Hi.. you have a same mobo with me..

..

and I bought a HP DVI-ADD2 card (DY674A)

I did nothing but install card..

and boot up it works...

your card is ADD2-R??? is it right???

ADD2-R is for BTX system..

ADD2-N is for ATX system and Intel D915GEVL is ATX system...

But is this electrically different? Or just with the short bracket?

But is this electrically different? Or just with the short bracket?

It is not just a short bracket and I am being to suspect that they are electrically the same (but I am not 100% sure). The deal is the BTX cases have motherboards on the left while ATX are on the right, so a PCIe card designed for ATX will be "upside-down" in BTX case. I think that some BTX verision have some minor physical difference, like its components are on the opposite side of the card or something.

I have the same problem with Shuttle SB86i and HP DY674. Shuttle is BTX but ADD2 card is ATX one... People, bee careful in choise, I have no reversed (BTX) version on my market :D

Considering that normal ATX PCIe video cards have no "lane reversed" or "-R" version, I am confused as to why this needed at all on ADD2 cards. For example, AnandTech's BTX overview says nothing about it requiring special PCIe cards: http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.html?i=1876 Although I am not sure, I suspect that you may be able to use an ATX ADD2-N (as opposed to a BTX ADD2-R), perhaps with a little work.

Yeah, it's seems to be electrically the same, according to specs:

But im my case I have second monitor detection in OS X and Windows XP, can choose dual monitors etc, but have no video output on DVI-D connector with HP DY674 ADD2-N card. ATI x1300 works fine. So, I think it's BTX PCIe issue, there are need to be ADD2-R card, if u want dual monitor support in SB86i based system...

Will I be able to use the ADD2 card with this board?

Thanks

I'll tell you what doesn't appear to work...

an ebay ADD2 Card w/ the SB86i.

I think this lane-reversing bit is rather important :hysterical:

http://www.channel.molex.com/products.php?...il&cmd_id=6

Available in ADD2-N (Non-lane-reversed ) for ATX systems or ADD2-R (Lane-reversed ) for BTX systems, both are available with a standard or low-profile PCIe bracket. ATX and BTX are chassis form-factors introduced by Intel. Both cards mate with MicroCross DVI-D receptacles.

Looks like I'm back to the drawing board on this one...

Retroz, I'm not sure if my card works (windows recognizes it correct, and recognizes the monitor the DVI cable is attatched to, but I don't get a picture) But if you'd like my ADD2 card, PM me & we'll work something out.
