Hello everyone,

I'm just wondering if it is possible to install OS X Leopard on my PC. Specs is as follows.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+

ATI Radeon HD 4670 OR ATI Radeon HD 4850

ASUS M2N-68-AM MB with nVidia chipset

Sata HDD and optical drive.

I tried installing it a while ago, but it didn't finish booting up. Before I waste my time again I was wondering if it is even possible for OSX to run on this system, properly that is.

Thanks in advance, sorry for the seemingly "n00bish" question. :)

It is.

RTFM=search the forum for "AMD install". You will find many topics about it. Just don't be afraid to search out the Google/Forums before asking...

Thanks for the reply, When I boot up off the OSX86 Kalyway Leopard DVD, i get this:

After the command "Check Sleep Capibilities", it prints: OHCI controller will be unloaded across sleep. Then, Still wanting for root device. And that command repeats and is stuck in a loop.

Its the nForce 630 chipset, by the way.

With Kalyway 10.5.2 Install DVD

Try booting the DVD with:

-v -x cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=ACPI|86PC -legacy

If you boot into the Installer OK, then in Customize choose:

Fonts and Languages [Your choice]

Kernel [kernel_922_modbin]

Graphics and Audio Drivers [None]

Network Drivers [None]

Mobo Chipset [Default choice i.e. all]

Thirds Application [Your choice]

Patches -> Hardcoded SMBIOS [AppleSMBIOS-27-Default]

No other selections under Patches

Others Patches -> [TimeMachineFix]

AMD 10.5.2 Patches -> [AMD_1052_Patch_test_1]

If you are able to install successfully, then boot with -v -f.....

I cant enter that character into the command "|"

I tried it without, and I had the same results. Ideas?

Then use

-v -x cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=86PC -legacy

Then use

-v -x cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=86PC -legacy

Same issue: CheckSeepCapabillity - OHCI controller will be unloaded across sleep

Still waiting for root device

Still waiting for root device

It is stuck in a loop. I will try updating my bios. Any other suggestions?

Have you set your storage mode in BIOS to AHCI......if not then do so.....

Also, if your nForce 630a chipset is the MCP67.......see here and here......

Update Edit - spotted a typo in previous post.......it should have read

platform=X86PC

Firstly what boot flags with Kalyway Install DVD worked to get you into the installer?

-v -x cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=86PC -legacy

Plus the update to my BIOS.

OK as well as enabling AHCI in your BIOS did you also enable all the USB support options.....?

I'm not sure what else to do.

I have USB functions set to enabled;

USB 2.0 Controller set to Enabled;

Legacy USB Support to enabled;

USB 2.0 Controller Mode set to HiSpeed

Try with Legacy USB Support set to [Disabled]......

I can't type in the boot tag with that on disabled, the keyboard or mouse doesn't even get power.

Anything else?

OK re-enable USB Legacy Support in BIOS and try

-v cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=86PC

or

-v cpus=1 maxmem=2048 platform=X86PC

OK re-enable USB Legacy Support in BIOS and try

I tried that, same result. No USB. My Keyboard and mouse are receiving power now, but not sending a signal to the OS X installer.

This is strange......it appears that neither -x and/or -legacy flags are a problem (it would surprise me if they were...).....so, while power is on unplug keyboard and mouse and then plug them back in......

Do you have Windows installed on the HDD too? Do you get the keyboard and mouse functioning after a shut down....short wait.....reboot?

Keyboard is working again after reboot. Windows is installed on the HDD, but I was going to replace it. Should I create another partition with partition magic or another utility?

I would keep Windows on the HDD and create another simple primary partition (either NTFS or FAT32) onto which to install OS X.....

OK, any other ideas how to fix USB. I can't install without it.

On rebooting and getting to the Darwin boot prompt, do the USB keyboard and USB mouse work then or not....
